Every 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dark Souls title has a plethora of cut content for fans to dig through. The first Dark Souls has various cut weapons and enemies, Dark Souls 2 has plenty of world shortcuts removed, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dark Souls 3 removed plenty of ambitious systems.

Many know how many changes Dark Souls 2 went through before release but, shockingly, Dark Souls 3 seems to have made more radical changes before it was released than its predecessor. Player-made bonfires, world tendency, and entirely removed playspaces are just a few things 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:FromSoftware never finished whe🍎n developing this game. Here are some pieces of cut conten𒉰t players have found in Dark Souls 3.

10 ꦯ Cut Weapons And Armor

Dark Souls 3 Burial Knight Set Cropped

Cut weapons and armor are nothing new for most RPG titles. Dar෴k Souls 3൲ is no exception to this, housing a surprising amount of cut weapons and armor sets that would never be used.

Weapons that were cut include dark pyromancy flames, a short bow transposed from Dancer's soul, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Golden Dual Swords 🍨that appear similar to the Gold and Silver Tracer swords from the original Dark S🎃ouls.

Armor is where this cut content gets really strange. A slightly altered version of Demon's Soul's Fluted Knight Set is fully modeled and textured in Dark Souls 3 yet remains unused in the final game. It is called the "Burial Knight Set" in-game, however. Other armor sets include a finished boss armor set based on Yhorm's gear as well as the Hexer and Varangian sets from Dark Souls 2.

9 Epitaphs

Dark Souls 3 Epitaphs

Epitaphs are unique gravestones that effectively act as messages. Interacting with one will reveal a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:small snippet of lore ⛦to the player, typically describing the person that is buried beneath the Epitaph.

Strangely, this featurꩲe made it as far as the Dark Souls 3 Network𒀰 Stress Test. Four Epitaphs could be found in the High Wall of Lothric during the test. They were all removed in the final game for reasons unknown.

8 ౠ Boss Changes 🎃

Dark Souls 3 Wolnir Alpha

A few bosses in Dark Souls 3 saw some major changes before release or were cut altogether. The Ringed City's Demon Prince boss was originally going to be faced in Smouldering Lake, and the Carthus Sandworm that is there in retail also had a dedicated boss fight.

As for boss fight changes, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Yhorm the Giant originally used Wolnir's model as seen in pre-release trailers and leaked screenshots of the alpha. instead of a mid-game fight. Finally, Gundyr was originally going to be fought in Oceiros' arena under Oceiros' name—which makes more sense than retail as the Pus of Man enemy inhabits the zones before Oceiros' arena.

7 God's Grave

An entire section of Dark Souls 3 was cut rather early in development, as evident by how few references there are to it in the final game. This cut location was going to be called God's Grave.

From the little information dataminers have gathered, God's Grave was going to be a two-part level that was directly connected to Undead Settlement's bridge. This zone was going to be a dense forest that would contain various tombstones and the Oceiros boss fight. God's Grave also appears to have a second floor tied to it that leads downward. Some speculate that this would connect to Smouldering Lake and be guarded by the cut bat demon boss. The bat demon was retooled as 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Demon Prince boss in The Ringed City DLC, as were most leftover assets from God's Grave.

6 Removed Shortcuts ꦬಌ

Dark Souls 3 Smouldering Lake Irithyll View

Similar to Dark Souls 2, the world design of Dark Souls 3 was dramatically shifted before it released. Based on what dataminers have found, the game was originally going to be much more interconnected 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:similar to the original Dark Souls.

For example, Smouldering Lake was going to connect to the broken staircase outside the Irithyll Dungeon. You can still see Irithyll from the Smouldering Lake in the final game despite the shortcut's omission.

The Abyss Watchers were also guarding a path to Irithyll instead of the Catacombs, the Undead Settlement bridge would have led to the cut God's Grave zone and Smouldering Lake, and the Curse Rotted Greatwood's arena would lead straight to the Catacombs of Carthus.

5 Cult Bo🍸nfires ♋

Dark Souls 3 Bonfire Creation Cut System

Some of the earliest leaked screenshots of Dark Souls 3 showed the Ashen One creating bonfires out of bodies. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:This wasn't a marketing gimmick, FromSof😼twar♌e was planning to make this an actual game mechanic.

Strings from the game's alpha talk about various "cults" the player could join that would determine the bonfire's purpose. Leftover assets reference these bonfires allowing players to level up, summon phantoms, or change their world state through the use of sacrifice ceremonies.

4 ꦐ Sacrifice Ceremonies

Dark Souls 3 Sacrifice Ceremony

Dark Souls 3 features a dynamic skybox that can be changed based ꦺon ☂what the game refers to as "sacrifice ceremonies." These would be enacted on cult bonfires created from corpses.

One of the leftover🃏 ceremonies in the alpha envelops the world in darkness, disabling all othe🍨r bonfires and making that player the primary target of invading phantoms. Invasions could also be prevented from occurring through this system as well.

3 PvP Invasion Changes ✤ ꦬ

Dark-Souls-3-PvP

Online play was going to rely heavily on the cut ceremonies mechanic. A few cut items in the Dark Souls 3 alpha reference items that would turn the world into darkness, allowing enemy phantoms to invade the Ashen One's world as they please.

Another cut item involves turning the area into a "battle royale," FromSoftware's terminology for a PvP arena. It is unknown if this would have been the only way to invade players originally.

2 Time Of Day System 🍌

Dark Souls 3 Night Time Cut Feature

It seems that Dark Souls 3 would have utilized some sort of time of day system that would dynamically change the skybox and, potentially, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:enemy placements just as world tendency did in Demon's Souls.

Certain world conditions exist that aren't tied to any ceremony such as spawning hordes of man-serpents that swarm the sky or causing the sun to get dangerously close to the planet. While it is unknown how these environmental changes would have been enacted, it is clear that the player's actions and use of ceremonies were going to impact the game world in a much larger way than it does in the final game.

1 ౠ Original Plot

Dark Souls 3 Leaked Concept Art

Isn't it strange that so many statues in Dark Souls 3 depict primordial serpents covered in wings? The game seems to be building up to some major revelation yet never delivers.

That is because the main plot was completely changed at some point before release. According to various leaks and datamined content, Dark Souls 3 was originally going to focus on slaying Dark Lords to prevent the Age of Dark, all of whom were serving under Darkstalker Kaathe, a stark contrast to the first Dark Souls' story.

Instead of defeating Lords of Cinder to face the Soul of Cinder, players would have accumulated the souls of these Dark Lords and used them to break Kaathe's Seal on the world, plunging everything into chaos. From there, players would delve into the Untended Graves to face Pontiff Sulyvahn as the game's final boss, choosing whether to take his place as a Dark Lord or rekindling the fire.
