Once you have ventured through the Road🐻 of Sacrifices, past the Undead Settlement, you will stumble across the Cathedral of the Deep, a massive church with Aldrich at the helm.
There's a massiv🅠e graveyard with wardens dedicated to keeping the constantly resurrecting corpses in check, a sprawling hall filled with monsters, knights, clerics, and a rooftop infested by nature's returning grasp. There's lore abound, especially given the ties to the Deep, Aldrich, Rosaria, and the Way of White, so here are ten things that you may not have known about the Cathedral of the Deep.
10 ✱ The Cathedral Of The💝 Deep Was Originally A Place Of Worship For The Way Of White
Despite its namesake and wealth of deep-ridden monsters and infested clerics, the cathedral was, in actual൩ity,💦 once dedicated to the famous Way of White, worshippers of Gwyn.
The attire that the Archdeacons don are items of clothing th🤪at were awarded to the highest-ranking members of the Way of W🌳hite, but the Cathedral no longer follows this covenant.
9 The Cathedral Once Held Back The 🔜Deep ♛
The reason that the cathedral is no longer dedica🐟ted to the age-old covenant that underwent drastic changes by the time of Lothric's rule is that they fell to the Deep, a swallowing dark not unlike the Abyss.
Initially, the cathedral was dedicated to keeping the Deep at bay, but over time, it corrupted, falling victim to this infestation. At some point, Aldrich, a cannibalistic cleric, entered the church's ranks. He saw a vi✨sion of the Age of Deep and, likely due to seeing its victory as inevitable, played a major role in causing the cathedral's transformation.
8 Paladins And Heralds Ventured From Afar To Find Out What Happened To The Cathe🏅dral
With the cathedral no longer dedicated to the Way of White 🌸covenant, now embracing the Deep, it would seem as though paladins and heralds from distant lands ventured to investigate.
Outside of the church, The latter's description reads, "umbral ash🐷 of a worn-out paladin who sought the Cathedral of the Deep. This paladin paid quite a price for his headstrong justice."
7 💖 Aldrich's♑ Coffin Lies In The Boss Room
When you reach the pinnacle of the cathedral, a large open room filled with deacons, you may except, like Horace and Anri, to come face-to-face with none other than 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Aldrich, a Lord of Cinder.
However, in his stead, Archdeacon Royce stands, a devout follower of the God-devourer, wh🧸ose very soul bounces from cleric to cleric. In the center of this open battlefield lies an open grave, a gigantic coffin for Aldrich.
6 It Is Hinted That Rosari🐈a Is Related To G💦wyenevere
The true identity of Rosaria is a mystery, with theories, abound as to who she is, varying from Gertrude to being a reincarnation of Gwynevere to being another daughteꦓr to being a descendant.
Transposing her soul will gift you with none other than Bountiful Sunlight, and by Gertrude's cage, you can find a man-grub, hinting that Rosaria's followers may have r𒅌escued her from the Archives. No matter the case, her visual similarities as well as the wealth of easter eggs seem to hint at a connection.
5 Siegward Can Be Found At The Bottom Of A Well𝔉
Once you have opened the gigantic bl🐎ue double doors opposite Rosaria's bed-chamber, the well to the right of the doorway from the first bonfire will house none other than our friend Siegward.
He's trapped at the bottom, with the conniving Patches having stolen his armor, donning it to play a trick on you, but you can re-acquire his gear for him and drop it down the well in order to save him. How he climbඣs out in his onion-armor is a mystery.
4 ๊ The Deep Accursed's Neck Is Lined𒁏 With Skulls
There are two Deep Accurseds in Dark Souls 3 and they 🐭are an incredibly interesting enemy, with not much in the way of lore barring the descriptions of the rings they drop. There is one in the cathedral and one in Anor Londo.
The🅷 rings they drop were "left by Aldr🐼ich" hinting that they may be servants or pets to the Saint of the Deep, but what you may not have known about these nightmarish arachnids is that their neck is lined with skulls.
3 Horace May Not Be 𒈔Able To Speak Due To A Rosaria's Finger Cutting Out His Tongue
Horace has an aptly titled suffix, the Hushed, and he and his traveling compatriot, Anri, have incredibly strong ties tꦛo Aldrich and the Cathedral of the Deep. It's no surprise then that Horace may in fact be tied to a resident of the church, Rosaria.
Given their opposition to her covenant, as seen in their devotion to the Blue Sentinels, there's no doubt that they've had their fair sh♊are of run-ins. Toppled with the tendency for Rosaria's Fingers🐎 to collect tongues, it's heavily implied that Horace may no longer be able to speak because one of her agents plucked his from his mouth.
2 It ꦗIs Located Where Oolacile Once Lay ꦡ
From the wretched swamps to to the Cathedral of the Deep itself, plenty🧸 of geographical and lore-based implications seem to imply that these areas lie in the same plain as Oolacile.
Given the resurgence of Anor Londo, it makes sense that other locations would make the leap from the♌ first Dark Souls as well, and perhaps the Deep's rise 🅺is tied to Oolacile's tormented history with the abyss, a similar entity.
1 𓂃 Anri And Horace Escaped The Cathedral As Children
Anri is a major character in Dark Souls 3, tying into one of the endings, the Lord of Hollows. Their story is a tragic one, with Anri and Horace having escaped the clutches of Aldrich as children, hence their quest to slay thᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚe Lord of Cinder.
Given Aldrich's affinity for eating humans, it is no surprise that the Cathedral of the Deep, now devoted to a new cause, supplied him with constant feasts. No children ever esಌcaped꧃, barring two, and they formed an unparalleled bond because of it.
