Irina of Carim is a character the player first comes across locked in a cell guarded by Eygon of Carim. She's a blind nun and the main Miracle merchant ไbut there's a lot more to her than there seems. Let's take a look at some facts about her you might not have known about her.

10 🎉 🅘 Meaning Of Her Name

Dark Souls 3 Irina

Starting off th⭕is list of Irina facts is something you never would have known unless you෴ were an etymologist or went through the trouble of researching it: the meaning of her name.

Irina is an Eastern-European variant of a Greek name that translates to Eirene, ♈which is derived from a word meaning "peace" and was also the name of a Greek goddess that personified peace. It was also the name of some earl🌺y Christian saints and the whole motif of peace fits perfectly with Irina's goal.

9 Familiar Voice ౠ

FromSoftwa🐻re have occasionall⛄y used the same voice actors across several of their titles. It's a cool way to keep the voice actors employed and it's such a treat whenever we recognize a voice from one of the previous games.

If you're a fan of the Soulsborne franchise and thought that Irina's voice sounded familiar, you're not wrong. Irina of Carim is voiced by Sarah Beck Mather, who previously appeared in  vꦫoicing Lucatiel of Mirrah, a fan-favorite character.

8 ܫ Can Become ♓A Firekeeper

The whole reason that Irina traveled to Lothric in the first place was so that she can become a Fire Keeper, but going by hers and Eygon's dialogue when you firstꦡ encounter them, it's easy to assume that she's a lost cause. That's not the case, however, as you can indeed make her a Fire Keeper, but it is a bit costlyꦉ.

You can make Irina a Fire Keeper by giving her the Braille Divine Tomes hi🅠dden across Lothric and buying up all of her Miracles except any Dark Miracles. It costs a fair number of souls, but she'll become a Fire Keeper and will even be able to level you up.

7 💦 The Feeling♊ Of Darkness

When you first encounter Irina locked in her ꦐcell in the Undead Settlement, she asks the player to touch her so she knows she's not alone. She does this because she says that🥃 darkness surrounds her and nibbles at her flesh like insects.

Irina's description of darkness nearly matches the description of Fire Keeper's Soul in Dark Souls 1, which describes aౠ Fire Keeper's soul as containing swarms of humanity that writhe and squirm. Irina's description can be read as a subtle hint that she's becoming a Fire Keeper.

6 Buying Darkꦛ Miracles 🍨

Buying up all the Miracles that Irina offers except the Dark Miracles will eventually make her a Fire ജKeeper, but what happens if you do buy a Dark Miracle from her? The long and short of it is that you'd be setting her down the dark path of her questline where she succumbs to the darkness.

You can easily tell which ones are the Dark Materials but if not, they're the ones that come with the Londor and Deep Braille Divine Tomes. If you don't want to send Irina on a dark path, you could also give thos﷽e tomes to Karla and buy Dark Miracles from her.

5 Free Tower K🔯ey

Just outside of Firelink Shrine is a dila🐟pidated tower that gives you access to a number oᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚf goodies. The only problem is the tower is locked and the key costs 20,000 souls. The souls are easy to obtain later in the game but if you wantꦡ the goodies early on, you'll have an annoying grind ahead of you.

There is an alternative method that will score you the Tower Key for free, and that is to simply kill Irina. We wouldn't recommend it because you won't be able to compꦚlete her questline but the option is there if you really want the key.

4 🃏 Maiden Astraea🃏 Homage

The duo of Irina and Eygon is a tragic one, especially when you take a deep dive into the lore, but what you might not know is that she bears a striking resemblance to a boss way back in 2009's 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Demon's Souls: Maiden Astraea.

Both Irina and Maiden Astraea are dressed in nearly identical white healer's robes and both are protected by a heavily armored knight armed with a giant hammer. While their backstories differ greatly, they're both outcasts because of the darkness w🥃ithin them.

3 Eygon's Promise ꧃ ༺

Eygon sat on a rock with a massive hammer

From how Eygon talks about her, you get the distinct impression that he hates Irina but still he travels with her and protects her, going so far as attacki💟ng you if you so much as buy a Darkಌ Miracle from her. He's sworn an oath to protect her but there's something more sinister if you dig deeper.

After going down the dark path of Irina's questline and killing Eygon, if you touch her while wearing Morne's ꦏGauntlet, she'll think you're Eygon and she'll ask you to kill her 𒅌as he promised. Players have interpreted this as Eygon promising to kill her if she fell to darkness.

2 Why She's Lo♍cked Up 𒅌

Have you ever wondered why Irina is locked in a cell when you first encounter her, especially with the fact that she's trying to be a Fire Keeper and suppo🎀sed to be one of the "good ones"?

The answer can be gained through 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:small hints and speculation, but it ties into the previous entry. Irina was locked in the cell by her protector Eygon, to protect her from the d🔜arkness. Going through the trouble of imprisoning her still seems like a bit much, but as you'll see from the next entry, it was to protect her from herself.

1 🔥 ⭕ Her Life In Carim

Eygon locks Irina up in a cell to protect her from the darkness, but when you first speak to her, ꦦshe's already been affected by the darkness. Players have speculated that Eygon locked her up not to protect her from darkness, but๊ to stop her from corrupting herself with darkness.

If you read the description of Irina's Ashes, you learn ❀that Irina was a frail woman, and that frailty led her to becoming a saint of Carim, her homeland, but it also lead to her grand treachery. It's never directly stated, but you can piece together that Irina may have abandoned her duties as a saint and willingly sought out darkness, with Eygon being tasked with making her a Fire Keeper to cleanse her.
