How To Survive The Confession Of Resentment
Just getting to the Seething Sigh can be a challenge; you'll need to survive three full Regions, plus the Valley and the Mountain, before you can attempt to bring it down. You also need to defeat at least one Lair Boss and equip their Trophy to your Stagecoach at an Inn before setting off for the Mountain. If you don't have a Trophy equipped, you won't be able to face the Seething Sigh.
There are more Regions to visit during the Confession of Resentment as well; you can encounter the Sprawl, Tangle, Foetor, Shroud, and Sluice on your journey. It is possible to see the same Region twice, but never consecutively. For example, if your first Region after the Valley is the Tangle, you won't have the Tangle as an option for the second Region, but you might see it for the third.
Negative Hero relationships can torpedo a run quickly, so it's important to use Inn Items liberally to keep everyone happy. It's also worth buffing and healing Heroes even if it isn't optimal to do so, for the chance of get🌺ting some positive relationship points.

The Seething Sigh's Stats And Abilities
The Seething Sigh consists of three enemies; the trachea, which serves as the main body and takes up the two middle positions, and a lung on either side of it. Each lung has 90 HP and is immune to all status effects, while the Seething Sigh itself has 285 HP and average Resistances (see below). Neitheꦍr the Sigh nor the lungs can be moved out of their starting position by any means.
If you reach maximum Loathing at any point during the run, the Seething Sigh's HP will increase by ten percent. It's not the end of the world if it happens once, but try to avoid this all the same!

At the beginning of each round, the Seething Sigh uses Shallow Breath as a free action, placing a Breath token on one of the lungs, chosen at random. The Breath token can be removed by dealing ten or more damage in total to that lung before the end of the round. If the Breath token is still present when the round ends, the Seething Sigh uses Sundering Exhalation, an attack 🅷that deals heavy damage to all Heroes.
When the Seething Sigh is reduced below half of its starting HP, it will start using Deep Breath instead of Shallow Breath. This places a Breath token on both lungs. As before, Sundering Exhalation will trigger if either lung has a Breath token at the end of the round, but if both tokens are still in play then the attack will deal even more damage!
Even though the lungs need Breath tokens in order for the attack to go off, the Seething Sigh is the enemy that actually uses Sundering Exhalation, so it can be affected by Blind or Weakness if you're able to apply those debuffs.
Between uses of Sundering Exhalation, the Seething Sigh will chip away at your party with single-target attacks that can apply a range of debuffs, but aren't much of a threat overall.
Best Strategy For The Seething Sigh Boss Fight
It's best to equip Skills that can hit the Seething Sigh and one of the lungs simultaneously. This prevents Sundering Exhalation from going off, and also puts damage on the main boss. The Leper's Hew and the Occultist's Arcane Artillery are both excellent choices, especially if you can get them to inflict a damage-over-time effect as well; this won't affect the lung, but putting persestent damage on the main boss will go a long way toward winning the fight.
The Flagellant's Acid Rain and Plague Doctor's Plague Grenade can both damage the rear lung while applying Blight to the Sigh. The Runaway's Firestarter canꦡ be used to enhance a multi-target attack to inflict Burn.
For the first half of the fight, focus on removing Breath Tokens with targeted attacks on the lungs while placing Burn, Bleed, and Blight on the Seething Sigh as much as you can. Since the party needs to split their attention, this is the most efficient way to wear down the boss's HP.
Once the Seething Sigh starts using Deep Breath, it will become much, much harder to prevent Sundering Exhalation. Each round, you'll need to assess whether you can stop the attack altogether, or if you'll need to be satisfied with simply blunting it or taking it on the chin. In these situations, try to Blind the Seething Sigh while putting as much damage on it as possible.
Limit your healing to just keeping Heroes out of Death's Door. The Seething Sigh's damage capacity far outstrips your own, so once you reach this point of the fight it's a race to the finish line. Let your damage-over-time effects do most of the heavy lifting while you focus on survival and debuffing.
When the Seething Sigh's HP is within range for your party to finish it off, go all-out to kill it before it can fire off another Sundering Exhalation. By this point in the battle, every extra round drastically increases the chances of losing one or more Heroes. If you weౠre careful at the beginning, you can afford to be reckless toward the end.
