The Fanatic joins the ranks of the Shambler and the Collector as one of the team-endingly powerful wandering bosses. Naturally, his appearance is tied into the Crimson Court's other gimmicks.
The Fanatic will only appear if you ENTER the dungeon with at least two heroes afflicted with the Crimson Curse. He is not a guaranteed spawn but will pop in and ruin your day about 50 percent of the time. If you really want to rile up the Fanatic, then enter the dungeon with four afflicted companions. You can tell when the Fanatic is on the prowl based on the loading screen you get when entering the dungeon. If you aren’t ready to face him, just leave.

The Fanatic's stats are somewhat deceptive. He has a fairly low health pool, his defenses aren’t that great, and, at a glance, he seems to be vulnerable to stun. Stuns are pretty useless against him since he acts three times per turn, meaning the effect will drop off before you get any real benefit from it. That being said, his low Bleed resist is something worth paying attention to.
How The Fanatic Kills You
The Fanatic’s true power lies in being a wandering boss. Even when you know he is stalking the halls of the dungeon, you never know when he is going to crop up. This makes preparing for him notably more difficult than a regular boss. Like all wandering bosses, the Fanatic also shuffles your party at the start of the fight, putting you on🎐 the back foot immediately.
That’s not all though, the Fanatic starts the fight by removing a party member and throwing them on his pyre with Sentence Rendered. This inflicts a chunk of damage every move, with that damage doubling if the burning character has the Crimson Curse. In ess🐼ence, he very much resembles the Hag, only fieri🌠er.
If that wasn’t enough, the Fanatic is a truly relentless combatant who will burn through your party (pun intended) quickly. He can disrupt your party with Strike The Heretic, he can Mark a hero with Brand The Tainted, and deal moderate damage that sc💛ales with Mark and Curse status. When he’s really mad, he can apply Bleed and deal a huge amount of Stress damage.
Bearing in mind you start at a major disadvantage, the Fanatic is a seriously powerful opponent that should be avoided in most situations.
How To Kill The Fanatic
Firstly, you want to completely ignore the pyre. Destroying it achieves very little, and it will only slow you down. Say a prayer for your burning companion, because you aren’t saving them this time. Instead, you want to direct all of your attacks on the Fanatic himself, which means you need character💎s who can target the third rank.
Despite all of the Fanatic’s strengths, he is still killable. His health pool isn’t too high, and he is very vulnerable to Bleed due to his low resistance and the fact he acts three times per turn, tripling its effectiveness. His Protection stat is not that high, but it is still a bit of a bummer. You absolutely want to hit him when you get the chance, but bleeding him out is the most effective strategy.
If you don’t have a team that can inflict Bleed effectively (168澳洲幸运5开奖网:maybe you lack the trinkets or even the characters) then there are a few other paths you can take. However, these are less reliable. Firstly, the Shieldbreaker and Grave Robber have attacks that can pierce his Protections. Providing you are hitting him, you are dealing maximum damage. This is a pretty big deal since his he﷽alth is so middling.
You could also consider running a Man-At-ꩲArms or Hig📖hwayman and abusing his triple activation by using counters. This is by far the least consistent way to deal with him, but if needs must, it can work.
The final thing to consider is movement. Because the Fanatic shuffles the party on spawn, starts cooking a mate immediately, and then has a push-back move📖 with your name on it, you really don’t want to be stuck with party members in positions they can&r🎀squo;t work from. You also don’t want to waste time moving.
Any character with a movement ability, such as the Crusader’s Holy Lance, is instantly useful in this fight. Making sure you have a couple of attacks like this i♓n your pocket will go a long way in smoothing out the early portion of the fight.
The Hound Master can be very useful as a Guarding character too. The Hound Master has a very high dodge chance, and this only gets higher when he is defending another character. It is very possible to dodge the Fanatic's pyre attack and operate with a full party of four. Even when you have a party of three, keeping your more valuableও characters safe is still a worthwhile investment.
Ideal Party
- The Fanatic really limits who you can take along in your party. Let's get the obvious out the way first - don’t take anyone who relies on Marks to function. Say goodbye to the Bounty Hunter and the Arbalest. As good as they are, they simply won’t pull their weight here.
- Next on the cutting room floor are characters that can’t reach the third row. This makes the Leper functionally useless, and the Crusader a hard sell. Sure, the Crusader has Holy Lance, but there are simply better picks.
- The Abomination is a huge "no" against the Fanatic as his inclusion restricts who you can take, and one of the characters he doesn’t get along with is the Flagellant. He also relies on Blight and Stun, neither of which are that useful in this fight. This also means the Plague Doctor gets cut too since she doesn’t have a kit suited to the fight.
- Finally, any character who lacks damage. If you don’t have damage, you aren’t pulling your weight, and you're dragging the team down. You might think that having a tanky Man-At-Arms in your team will help because he can reach the third row, and if he is grabbed, he will last longer on the pyre. This is incorrect as the pyre does percentage damage. You want to bring the big guns.
So who dꦐoes that leave? Honestly, not that many charac𝓀ters. We have eliminated a huge chunk of the cast, and only the cream of the crop remains.
Flagellant
The poster boy for the Crimson Court, the Flagellant has just about everything you want for taking on the Fanatic. He can apply a hideous amount of bleed to any position on the field, he can self-heal and he can even transfer bleed in a pinch. He works best in slots one and two, and honestly, there isn’t a better character to lead the charge.
You could maybe consider a Hellion who can also inflict Bleed, and has a more rounded move pool that allows her to engage from multiple positions. This 🍨is especially after the initial shuffle.
Flagellant
The Flagellant makes another appearance as our second slot pick. All of his best moves can be used in this slot still, and every upside a first slot Flagellant has is also found in the second slot. Again, there r🍎eally isn’t a better character for the job.
You could consider a bleed-focused Jester, or again, a Hellion, but the Flagellant is incredible in this fight and outshines them both. Taking two Flagellants gives you a bit of redundancy as you don’t want the Fanatic to throw your main damage dealer on the Pyre.
Grave Robber
The Grave Robber brings a lot to the table, but the big ones are her mobility during the initial shuffle and her piercing attacks. The Fanatic takes 100 percent of her damage, and her damage is pretty darn high.
You could consider t💃he equally-mobile Shieldbreaker here as well. Both work wonders and help reposition our fourth slot. A guard-focused Houndmaster is another pick as he can keep your first and second slots protected thanks to his innately high dodge, and the dodge buff he gains from using his guard 🐈ability.
Vestal
The ever-reliable Vestal. She has a powerful single-target heal and endlessly useful AOE heal. Her only downside in this fight is her lack of mobility. This forces you to waste turns moving her. Taking the aforementioned Grave Robber or Shiꦇeldbreaker can help mitigate this as they can shove her down the line.
A quick side note, the Vestal can use her AOE heal in (almost) any position, so even when she is not in the ideal slot, she can still do some work. If you want to go hyper-aggressive, you could always take a Hound Mast🧸er instead. You could even double up and have on in the third slot as well, and double-down on your guard-stance.
