It seems as if another battle royale game will be biting the dust soon. In an update on its official website, developer Scavengers has announced that its debut game 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Darwin Project will be shutting down by the end of the year. The game's April update willཧ be the last one "for the foreseeable future" and the game will continue to operate as normal until sometime later in 2020. Servers will likely be shuttered in December.

"It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to stop developing new features for the game," reads the blog post. "Over the past years, we saw a decreasing playerbase, and have been working hard on finding solutions...We have assessed all potential solutions and scenarios, but unfortunately, Darwin Project is unable to sustain itself th🌃us f🤪orcing us to come to this very difficult decision."

While it might be easy to write this title off as a Fortnite clone, Darwin Project attempted t𓂃o shake up the battle royale formula to some degree. One player would act as a game master, of sorts, and introduce different hazards to the competing players as they vied for supremacy. There was even built-in shout casting for distracting players.

The beta for Darwin Project garnered a lot of attention, but players didn't come around for the official launch. The title was released early on in 2018, but lost players to the increasing popularity of Fortnite. Scavengers had attempted to recover some, but the surprise launch of Apex Legends in 2019 basically sealed this game's fate.

If you're interested in gi🅷ving this a go, it is currently free-to-play on PC. The update doesn't mention whether or not in-game purchases will be deactivated, but that seems likely. Scanvegers ends the blog by announcing that it will be working on new, unannoun🎃ced projects for the future, so at least the team isn't being completely dissolved.

It's never fun to see a somewhat interesting game fail, but there really was nothing else that Scavengers could have done. The battle royale craze is reminiscent of the MMO Gold Rush back when World of Warcraft released. People are too invested into their BR of choice and it seems Darwin Project didn't do enough to stand out from the pack.
