While the monstrosities that the Freaker Virus produce may seem as conventionally undead and cannibalistic as your average zombie at first glance, there's much more to its augmented subjects than that. The Freakers are living creatures by all definitions and ꧂have more in common with the infected🍸 from The Last of Us than your typical zombie fodder.
෴They may have had much of their humanity stripped away, but the Freakers do still need to eat, sleep and drink water to survive. They're not even bound by their cannibalistic urges, as Freakers have been observed foraging for berries and eating grass. If anything, they've proven that they're highly resourceful. While zombies are prone to decomposition, Freakers will likely stick around for as long as a c💖ure eludes survivors.

Throughout the game, several animal types are revealed to have also been overcome by the virus, although you only run into three different ones.
