It's official: the first DLC content for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:set to arrive this upcoming week. It will let players train with Whis, leading up to a Super Saiyan God boss battle against Beerus. It's said to be true endgame content – even the developers claimed they could only beat Beerus 1-in-10 times. There's also going to to be some form of multiplayer and a collectible card game. On top of that, two more DLC events are on the way. With all of this content, is there room for a Kakarot 2?

leaves few stones unturned in telling the Dragon Ball Z story. It does leave out some popular filler arcs like Snake Way and the Other World Tournament, but it covers every major saga. When it ends, players are in a post-Buu world. They can play as grown-up Gohan, tap into Super Saiyan 3, or use the Gotenks fusion. With that status quo, there's really only three places to go: create original content, adapt the many Dragon Ball Z movies, or continue on to Dragon Ball Super.

Bandai Namco probably wants DLC to be recognizable to sell, which rules out original content. Kakarot adds some, such as Bonyu the secret sixth Ginyu Force member or 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mira and Towa's time-hopping, but nothing as substantial as a whole story arc. Movies are a possibility, with some dataminers already finding references to Broly in Kakarot's code. But the appearance of Beerus and Whis seem to say that Super is the future.

Beerus, though destructive in nature, can be extremely lazy.

If Super is the direction Kakarot is going in, how much is there adapt, really? The first DLC handles the arrival of Beerus and Super Saiyan God. After that there's another Boss Battle DLC and then a full story arc. Two likely candidates for that Boss Battle DLC are Broly and Golden Frieza. If Frieza is the boss battle, then the story DLC is probably the Tournament of Power. Otherwise, the game could get away with making Broly the boss and Frieza's return as the story arc. Either way, there isn't too much going on in Super afterwards.

A theoretical Kakarot 2 would have enough content if it started from the beginning of Super. That would be awesome, too, as it could allow players to explore an even wider map. It might even let us visit places that are seen briefly, like Universe 6. It could also refine the fighting mechanics so that they play less like a basic anime arena fighter. But that would invalidate all of the Super-themed DLC of the first game, which wꦚould anger a lot of fans.

The best move for Bandai Namco is to not make a Kakarot 2, but instead offer another DLC pack in a year or so. Maybe something that goes into the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga once it ends, and includes one movie boss like Janemba. A more refined version of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot with a fleshed out Super storyline would be ꦚamazing, but they just didn't leave enough content for another 30-40 hour game.
