Dead by Daylight rewards thinking ahead when it comes to pick🌄ing the right perks.
While injuring, downin🦂g, and hooking them is a good way to do that the time from chase to down is variable, if you catch them at all and there are three other surv෴ivors probably working generators in the meantime. However, with these perks, you can impede and even undo their progress, giving you plenty of time to offer them to The Entity.
Updated on October 13, 2024, By Christopher Padilla: Dead By Daylight is a constantly evolving game, not only because of the regular infusion of new Killers, Survivors, and their perks, but also because of the regular tweaking, rebalancing, and reworking to already existing elements. With something as delicate as the speed of generators being done, changes to the pertinent perks can have a pretty big ripple effect on how Killers and Survivors play. And a lot of these perks have changed since their initial version. As such, we've updated each entry to not only reflect the current version of each perk, but their place in the meta as well. We also added some newer perks and added one we missed before that will have you thinking outside of that generator-tampering box.
18 ✨ Sloppy Butcher
A good alternative to attacking the generators to delay Survivors is to just attack the Survivors themselves, since every Survivor in chase is not working on a generat🌳or and if you injure them, they’ll have to stop and heal or risk going down the next time you meet.
Sloppy Butcher works best on Killers who have ways to quickly close in, but still use their normal attack to deal damage, since it do🐬esn’t apply on special attack hits like Huntress ♓Hatchets or Wesker lunges.
There’s a loꦬt of counterplay to this, however. Survivors could just heal to undo your work and with the right combination of perks and items, heals can happen quickly. This is where Sloppy Butcher comes in. It causes normal hits to apply Mangled and Hemorrhage, which slow down healing and causes unfinished healing progress to re⭕gress, respectively.
17 🍨 Oppression
The most efficient thing that Surviv⭕ors can do at the beginning of a match is to split up and each start doing a different generator. By doing this, they’re making progress in four of their five goals and even if one of them gets chased, then the other three would still be chugging away at their generators.
Oppression is a great counter to this tactic however, since it causes multiple generators to regress at once. This perk applies whenever you kick a generღator, causing up to three other genera꧃tors to start regressing as well and giving Survivors working on them a difficult skill check before going on a short cooldown.
16 Scourge Hook: Gi﷽ft Of Pain
In the Trials, your goal is to kill all of the ꦬSurvivors before they can escape and in most games, the best way to do that is to hook them until they’re dead. Like the other Scourge Hook perks, Gꦉift of Pain further incentivizes this by giving an additional effect when you hook them on one of the four special Scourge Hooks on the map.

Scourge Hooks can completely change the way you play🤪 DbD - here's our ranking!
In this case, it gives Survivors unhooked from a Scourge Hook with the Mangled and Hemorrhage afflictions, making them more difficult to🍬 heal. To further salt the wound, if they’re healed, they take on an action speed penalty to generator repairs and healing.
15 Surge
Surge is straightforward and elegant in its simplicity. When you down a Survivor, all gen🍌erators within 32 meters expꦑlode, instantly losing eight percent before regressing normally. The effect is simple, but its implications are not.
To damage generators, you often have to stop what you’re doing to do so, usually 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:chasing a Survivor. However, with Surge, the chase and damaging a generator become the same action. Better yet, there’s no cooldown for Surge so back-to-back knockdowns translate to multiple damage instances. This perk works best on 🍬Killers who can get Survivors down quickly, like Nurse or Deathslinger, since they have a high chance of downing them near a gen be🐻fore they get too far.
14 𓆉 H💧ex: Wretched Fate
On its own, Hex: Wretched Fate isn’t too great. Sure it imposes a pretty hefty repair speed penalty on the Obsession, but it only activates after a generator is completed. It’s also a Hex, so vulnerable to being 𒁃cleansed and even reveals itself to the Obsession when they get close enough.

However, this perk is a pretty nifty combo piece that you can slot into quite a few builds. The most obvious being the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Undying/Thrill o🍌f the Hunt/Pentimento combo, which would slow 🐓everyone down, esp♈ecially the Obsession. If you want a better chase potential, bring Blood Favor instead of Thrill. Or if you wanna ruin the Obsession’s day, bring Thanatophobia instead.
13 Mer♕ciless Storm 🦩
This is a perk that trigꦛgers when a generator is repaired to 90 percent, once per generator. Once activated, it forces whoever’s working on it to deal with back-to-back difficult skill checks, blocking the generator for 20 seconds should they fail any check or let go. Merciless Storm is one of those perks that sharply lose effectiveness as you rank up, since at a certain skill level survivors rarely miss skill checks.
Merciless Sto🐠rm works well with Tinkerer since it informs you when generators are almost done, giving you an opportunity to catch Survivors before the generator is complete, possibly blocking it in the process.
Still, this perk has potential with certain killers like Freddy Krueger, Sadako, or The 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Xenomorph, that can quickly cross the map and🥃reliably to force Survivors off generators or Doctor, who can make skillꦇ checks even more difficult.
12 Thanatophobia ♍
Thanatophobia gives survivors a stacking debuff to repairing generators, sabotaging hooks, and cleansing totems for every injured, downed, or hooked survivor-- two percent per Survivor with a substantial bonus of 12 percent if you can get all four Survivors, putting it at a total of 20 percent. While it’s blunted by the usage of Medkits, it still has value in slowing down the game since it 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:forces survivors to heal or deal wit☂h slower repairs. And if they’re healing, then they’re not doing generators.
Because it's relatively difficult to get max value from this perk, it's best used on Killers that can injure Survivors in rapid succession, like Legion or keep them injured for a long time, like Plague. Aꦇnother option is to run builds that hit Survivors with the Broken status effect, which prevents them from healing, which you can reliably apply with the Pyramid Head perk Forced Penance or to apply the Mangled and Hemorrhage status effects which slow healing down a✱nd causes survivors to lose healing progress when not healing, respectively.
11 ✨ Hex: Pentimento
This perk allows you to rekindle cleansed totems, giving a different effect for every revived totem and if you can bring back all five totems before any of them are cleansed, block al𒀰l your totems from interference. Of course, you don’t need all five totems to get big value from Hex: Pentimento since as long as you can keep one or two up, which reduces repair speed and healing speed, respectively, then this perk is already doing its best work.
Run it alongside Hex: Plaything and you're almost🐭 guaranteed use of it, since Survivors w🔴ill have to cleanse their Plaything totem or be afflicted with the Oblivious status effect. Either way, a win for you.
Similar to Thanatophobia, survivors have a choice: de💯al with the totem or deal with the slow repairs. Either way they delay their progress. The other effects, which reduce recovery speed while downed and gate opening speed is less consequential but still useful and the slowdown across all effects is a hefty 30 percent.
10 🌺 Grim Embrace 🐠
Grim Embrace is a strong perk that rewards you for hooking each Survivor and rewards you even꧂ more if you can hook them all. Whenever you hook a Survivor, you gain a token and when you move 16 meters away from them, all generators are blocked for ten seconds. This might seem like a minor annoyance and most Survivors will probably just be irritated whenever it procs, however, it does add up.
The big reward comes when you have hooked all the Survivors at least once. After getting your fourth token, all generators are blocked for 40 seconds and the Obsession is revealed for six seconds. If you can pull it off, that's a total of 70 seconds of g🤡ame delay, after which the perk deactivates. This also synergizes fantastically with Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance since both trigger from hookin🎶g unique Survivors.
9 Deadlock
This perk blocks off the generato💮r with the most progress whenever a generator is completed for 25 seconds. It also highlights the blocked generator so that you know which one the Survivors are likely invested in and can plan accordingly.

Dead By Daylight: 10 Powers of The Cenobi🐷te, Ranked
One of the most iconic horror characters of all time, the Cenobite is a great add💃ition to the Dead By Daylight cast.
Survivors have some counterplay by doing multiple generators and switching when one of the gets blocked. You'll rarely see this happen outside of full tea♈ms of experienced Survivors.
While it requires a bit of give-and-take, Deadlock will likely serve you throughout the whole game, especially💛 at higher ranks where survivors more reliably complete generators. In a game where four generators are completed, you can get up to 100 seconds of game delay.
