Be🎃havior Interactive that Matchmaking ratings, skill-based matchmaking, and 🐽ranked rewards will soon be added to Dead by Daylight. The news comes in the most recent developer update, along with new information about a HUD revamp, graphic upgrades, and changes to three Killers.

The return of matchmaking ratings is exciting to see, as the developer has been working to improve on their initial test from 2020. At its core, the new matchmaking system aims to connect you with other players of a similar skill level, regardless of what rank each player may have. Rather than re🎉ly on the old system, where five players were considered equal in skill if they had the same rank, now you may see rank 20s playing withไ rank 1s, because the algorithm looks to align certain behavior and skill over rank alone as an indicator of player ability.

In the end, the goal of this new system is to streamline matchmaking and provide a more solid, consistent experience. Whether it works is a whole other matter, and we hope that this 🌳time certain problems have been ironed out. When it was first tested, the algorithm was not as finely tuned as it needed to be, and players reported matches where the skill level between players was drastically unbalanced.

A new addition to the game is the introduction of rank rewards. As your rank will no longer be used for matchmaking, your highest rank earned by each monthly reset will award Bloodpoints🃏 for both Survivor and Killer roles. The ability to earn rewards for both roles is a great move by the developer, and this incentivizes players to explore both sideꦦs of the game. In total, you can earn up to 500,000 Bloodpoints. In the future, it would be great to also see the addition of some form of cosmetic rewards for hitting certain ranks as well.

A quick look at the rewards structure reveals that you will not need to hit rank 1 each month to get a good amount of Bloodpoints. Obviously, hitting rank 1 will award the most, but the biggest jumps are early on. It takes relatively little effort to get from rank 20 to 10, but the Bloodpoints earned are 𝐆significantly more between both levels. Even hitting rank 4 each😼 month will get you 80% of the maximum number of Bloodpoints, so there is no need to worry if you cannot commit to hitting the top each month.

We cannot wait to see how this works 𒈔in Dead by Daylight, and 2021 looks to be off to a great start for Survivors and Killers alikeꦯ!
