When 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dead By Daylight started taking on Killers from iconic slasher movie꧒s the series really hit its stride. As uniquely designed and devastating as its own roster of psychopaths is, it’s still satisfying to stalk around as a legendary movie monster, in this case, The Nightmare, or Freddy Krueger as he’s more infamously known.
Brought in with the Chapter VI: A Nightmare On Elm Street DLC, this striped shirt-wearing, claw-handed wraith made famous by the horror films of the same name is more than just fan service as there’s quite a lot of interesting things to unpack in his nightmarish toybox. Just like the movies he has special abilities based on dragging players into the Dream World, and for first-timers he can be pretty hard to pick up and play. To make this dream🥂scape-crossing sadist easier to get to grips with, here are some tips for playing as The Nightmare in Dead By Daylight.
10 He’s A Wa𒁃lking Nightmare For Survivors ꩲ
If you’re looking for a Killer that’s a complete pain in the neck to deal with as a Survivor then Freddy is your man. This quick-slashing sadist is constantly interfering with other players' 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:escape attempts in a Trial since he's more of a progress blocker than a physical threat.
When a Trial begins, each Survivor has a 60-second timer above their heads that once counted down triggers a Micro Sleep mode which casts them into Krueger's playground, the Dream World. It’s another plane of reality that requires specific actions to escape and substantially powers up Freddy when he starts to prowl around in there after someone. So focus on playing mind games if you're playing him.
9 Kruger Is More Useful In The Dream World ♒
Just like how he is in the movies, old Fred is much more of a threat to someone when he has them within his Dream World. Whilst in the films that takes the form of supernatural reality-bending abilities, in Dead By Daylight it's 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:toned down to teleportation and the ability to set snar♚e🥀 traps and pretend pallets.
His Terror Radius also gets replaced with a genuinely unsettling lullaby that’s omnidirectional, which means it’s impossible to tell where he’s 🐲about to come from. When he’s not in the Dream World he’s just another dude with a sharp instrument for stabbing, but you can make Survivors slip back into that personal hell with basic attacks, so smack everyone you can to subdue them, then hunt them down as they snooze.
8 Get Creative 🌠With Dream Traps ღ
When you’re chasing someone within the Dream World, you have some fun traps at your disposal that can be used to seriously slow down other players and if used right they can be pretty deadly. It&rs💃quo;s recommended that♑ you get creative with the traps as the longer it takes for someone to escape the Dream, the more time they waste in the real world.
Dream Pallets can be placed, and when dropped by a Survivor not only do they not stun you, but they also are immediately destroyed. It's incredibly satisfying to see other players fall for this as they often stand there for a second, perplexed as to what just happened. A good tip to take advantage of Dream Pallets is to set up a Dream Snare either behind or before it to further increase their panic and prevent them from looping as you carve chunks out of their hide with your clawed gloves. You can also use Dream Projection which teleports you to a generator that’s in view to drop a surprise attack on someone in order to scare them off into any nearby traps.
7 ൲ Use His Stealth To Your Advantage
Freddy isౠ a creature not of our world and so he flickers in and out of reality in a Trial. This makes it incredibly hard, if not borderline impossible, for even the most experi💮enced Survivors to keep track of him.
His Terror Radius can be heard at close range, but he’s only visible within 16 meters as he appears and vanishes into the ether intermittently. As he phases in and out of reality, it’s not only hard to see where he’s going, but if he walks further than 32 meters away he becomes completely invisible. So you can use this to your advantage to watch them from afar and set ambushes on Survivors that are never going to see you coming. It's useful if you’re having a hard time chasing someone down, as you can just give them some distance and then close the gap when they think they’ve escaped.
6 Interferen🔯ce Is His Speciality
The majority of the Killers in Dead By Daylight have their own unique meta that you should always take advantage of. In Krueger's case, it's slowdown as his abilities are perfect for interfering with the progress of escaping, and also generally be a massive pain to deal with.
Playing as Krueger is less map domination and more death by a thousand cuts as you slowly wear down the other team's morale, running out the clock as you torment and taunt them. So reflect this in your playstyle, use hit and run tactics on groups to disperse them, and torture people for as long as you can in the Dream World. A general rule of thumb is to try tactics that are going to waste time for the Survivor team as a full-frontal assault like the kind The Oni Killer in Dead By Daylight would do is never going to work as potential victims will just run rings around you.
5 🎃 Add-Ons F꧟or Boosting The Dream World
Freddy Krueger is at his most powerful in the Dream World, so naturally bringing along some add-ons that enhance his abilities to warp reality within this pocket dimension is an absolute must. There’s🅰 a pretty strong selection at your disposal, but if you want to become the ultimate nightmare then here are a few that are recommended to become a real night ter🥂ror.
To start things off, use Green Dress to increase the regression penalties on Survivor actions and reveal their auras for three seconds for failed Skill Checks. Or you could stick in Unicorn Block to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:inflict Blindness for 60 seconds on anyone disarming your traps, combined with Pill Bottle to reduce a Survivor's ability to see you and enhance your options for setting an ambush. Finally, Black Box is worth consideration as it blocks the exit gates in the Dream World for 16 seconds, making a quick escape that much harder and allowing you to get one last cheap kill on anyone that might be trying to escape.
4 🍌 Red Paint Brush Is A Must
It’s rare that you come across an add-on in Dead By Daylight that you absolutely must bring int♍o a Trial, but Red Paint Brush is one of those.♛ This seemingly innocuous little brush has some pretty game-changing abilities that you would be crazy to sleep on.
When this item is brought to a Trial by Krueg𒊎er the game immediately starts in the Dream World. Not only does this immediately put Survivors on the back foot, but it gives you a massive advantage straight out of the gate as you immediately have access ♛to all of his special abilities. Plus, Red Paint Brush also comes with the caveat that makes failing a skill check no longer wake up Survivors, turning the Dream World into a real threat to start off in instead of a mild inconvenience. So if you want to give the other team a hard time, bring this along.
3 Teachable Pꩵerks Are Better
Whilst Freddy does have some strong Perks of his own, they’re a bit underwhelming for the type of meta that he’s suited for. But, to get around this downside it’s worth strapping in a few 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Teachable Perks in your loadout instead. There are plenty to choose from that are perfect for Killers specialized in interference, so here’s a f♚ew worth bringing along.
To start off, Discordance is strong in his hands as it highlights any generator within a set distance that’s being repaired by two or more Survivors. Thrilling Tremors is also useful as it blocks every generator not being repaired whenever a Survivor is picked up, which can be a real hassle to deal with especially if the other players are spread far apart they’ll have to stop what they’re doing to come and rescue their friend. Combine this with plenty of Dream traps around your bait and you’ve got yourself a solid tactic for clearing out the opposing team. Finally, there’s the Community favorite, Pop Goes The Weasel which regresses the first generator damaged by a Killer by 25 percent after a successful 𒊎hook, not major game-changing but it can slow escape progress significantly when used at the right moment.
2 Don’ﷺt Worry About Chasing
Chasing down Survivors as a Killer is one of the main things you’ll be doing in Dead By Daylight. But as The Nightmare, you don’t really need to worry about that too much as he’s not too great at🍸 keeping pace with someone outside of the Dream World.
But, he does make the perfect sheepdog as his free teleport allows for instant map teleportation to generators to scare people off them. You can also cancel out of a teleport to further corral Survivors as there’s no telegraph that it's going to be snapped out of until it’s too late. So you can bait it easily and because he’s so hard to keep track of, other players will think you’ve disappeared when you’re actually just sneaking around behind them.
1 His Hitbox Is Broken 🐻
One of the weirdest and oddly beneficial features of The Nightmare is that his melee hitbox is ridiculously huge and completely broken. Whilst Dead By Daylight is no stranger to funky hit detection, especially around certain props in some of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:maps in the game, with Krueger it’s the worst it's ever been but it works to your advantage.
His glove may 🌠seem tiny and wimpy, but it has a wide arc and surprisingly long range. You’re almost always guaranteed a hit when you’re close no matter how wild your swings are, so use this to your advantage to get a cheap hit on a Survivor that’s just a little bit too close. There’s a higไh chance the player you’re chasing down doesn’t know about the hitbox jank, so exploit it if you can.
