168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dead Island 2 is alive. Apparently it always has been, with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Deep Silver reassuring fans on a nu💞mber of occasions that the open world zomb♊ie blockbuster is still in the works, and one day we might actually be able to play it. That day is closer than expected, with a recent Amazon listing pointing towards a February 2023 release date.

The thing is - I played this years ago. If I recall it was at the Eurogamer Expo in Birmingham, and there was a small, heinously unfinished demo to sample that was a rather dire sign of things to come. Chances are this was an entirely different vision of the game we might be playing next year, sporting the comedic, cel-shaded aest♋hetic of the reveal trailer with a focus on over-the-top weapons and character archetypes that never took themselves seriously.

Remember the original Dead Island? It wasn’t very good. The iconic reveal trailer was something Techland had little to do with, meaning the🍨 finished product did an awful job of replicating its masterful sense of drama and skilled approach to storytelling. It was ꧋a largely forgettable and goofy open world zombie game that quickly became a chore to progress through. Ironically enough, it still tried to take itself seriously with its writing and atmosphere despite the characters all being cliche stereotypes and the game opening with a certified banger known simply as Who Do You Voodoo Bitch. I’m kidding, it sucks so much ass.

Dead Island

You could e🍌ven find the hotel room from the reveal trailer in the finished game. There is no quest or meaningful narrative purpose to seeking this place out, just a couple of flimsy꧅ corpses lounging around that we were expected to be moved by. It didn’t work at all, and Riptide, the sequel rushed to market shortly after the base game, only served to further compound some of the series’ biggest problems. There was absolutely some fun to be had in combining weapons and killing thousands of zombies on a tropical island, but when everything else that surrounds it is so mediocre you can’t help but stop caring.

Techland didn’t find its feet until 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dying Light, subsequently leaving the Dead Island franchise behind as its sequel was picked up by Yager Entertainment and Sumo Digital. We didn’t hear from it for years as it entered development hell and the only updates came from responses to fans on social media begging for a mere morsel of information. Chances are a big re♔veal is coming at Gamescom this week, and the screenshots that have since emerged online have let the zombified cat out of the bag much too early. Signs are good, but given the team responsible for Homefront: The Revolution are in charge I am not getting my ho𝓡pes up.

Dead Island

Dead Island 2, at least in its original form, reminded me of Sunset Overdrive in a time before that game had become a cult classic. It was sunny, tongue-in-cheek, and clearly relished in the mayhem of the apocalypse with a selection of characters who liked nothing better than to tear zombies apart with all manner of unpredictable weapons. There was also that guy in the trailer who sounded exactly like Jack Black𝓀 but apparently wasn’t him despite so many rumours. Goodness me he’d be such a get for the revival though.

The build I played was buggy and unfinished, but it had the spirit of the trailer. Character models were overzealous and environments were oversaturated, while a swarm of zombies marching towards me prepared for slaughter. My memory is fuzzy, but I recall the demo being on a timer, and we were tasked with killing as many undead as possible before our time with the game came to an end. I ran through it a handful of times, trying out different weapons and characters to get a taste for the game’s variety. Environments were made up of a few beachside houses and a straight road, with a handful of c💫ars to clamber up and corners to dive into away from the encroaching horde. It was simple but effective, and not nearly ready for public consumption. But there it was, begging to be played before it would disappear into the shadows never to be seen again. I definitely didn’t dream this up.

Leaked screenshots seem to keep these idyllic environments intact, but th🐼e zombies seem more gruesome and ferocious, as if Dambuster Studios is trying to blur the lines between a potential paradise and our deepest nightmares. I’m not convinced Dead Island 2 is going to rewrite the open world rulebook, but if it can capture even a sliver of the magic from its original reveal I will be more than satisfied. That is, if this new release date isn’t a cruel trick.
