The Dead Rising series has been, well, dead after the fourth game. Capcom Vancouver was abruptly shut down, meaning fans of the series wouldn't get to see another installment. However, something was in the works indeed. It seems that an unannounced Dead Rising project was under development at the studio, and there's even gameplay footage of it. Dead Rising: Dia De Los Muertos was, of course, cancelled with the studio shuttering, but one of the devs that worked on it has used the game's footage in their portfolio.First spotted by , a familiar name in the Dead Rising community, the reveals a few clips of early design, as well as some gameplay. The protagonist looks like a younger version of series mainstay Chuck Greene, leading to the theory that this was supposed to be a prequel set in Mexico. Accord🌠ing to the date in the videos' titles, this was the state of the game around 2016 - 2017; it's not final gameplay, of course, but it's still quite a way into the developmental cycle. Perhaps if the studio had a few more months, we would have seen the final version, but – truth be told – even with polishing and final touches, the gameplay looks pretty bland.
