💧 Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Review - Frankly Fantastic

Dead Rising is one of my favourite ga🦋mes of all time, and Deluxe Remaster is undeniably the best, if ea🌞siest, way to play it.

Overtime Mode is already Dead Rising's toughest section thanks to the annoying Special Forces that can be found througho♍ut, but things get a lot worse thanks to the game's true final boss, Brock Mason.

How To Find Brock Mason

Frank calling Isabela in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster's Overtime Mode.

Just like with Steven and some of the other mandatory Psychopaths, Brock is unmissable if you're trying to beat the main story. Once you've unlocked Overtime Mode and collected every item for Isabela, you'll be sent to the Clock Tower and discover it has a massive hole in it. Frank and Isabela wilꩵl then make their ♚way through it by using a zombie-avoiding pheromone.

This section is fairly simple so just get through and stick close to Isabela for as long as needed. You'll then hijack a truck and go toe-to-toe with a tank for a mini boss battle. The tank is easy to defeat, as all you need to do is shoot at the green lights over and over again until it's def💃eated. Doing so will m💯ove the fight along to a battle against Brock, which takes place on top of a tank.

How To Defeat Brock Mason

Preparation

Frank and Brock in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

This is probably the easiest preparation guide I'll have to do for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, as there's nothing you can bring into your fight with Brock. It's a pure one-on-one fisticuffs battle, which means that any items or weapons you were holding before will be compℱletely taken away from you.

The only advice I can give here is to make sure that Frank is at the absolute highest level he can be (Level 50) so that he has the highest health, attack, and speed possible. You'll want ꦐto make sure you've at least got the Somersault Kick, as it's the best move that you can use against Brock du💞ring your fight.

It's worth keeping in mind that ther🦄e are no health pickups to be found during the battle against Brock. You get your health restored to its maximum after the tank fight, but you need to do it in one go.

Brock's Moves

Although Frank doesn't have any weapons during this fight, neither does Brock, which makes it a fair fight. That's not exactly a good thing, though, as Brock is a hand-to-hand expert and has a number of damaging moves. His most basic attack is a mixture of punches and kicks that are fast-paced and hard to avoid unless you're actively watching out for them.

One of Brock's kicks actually has the ability to send Frank flying off the tank, which is dangerous considering there are 🅺so many zombies🗹 around. You're going to want to avoid his kicks whenever possible, since getting knocked into the crowd of zombies is a quick way to lose another block of health.

While not an attack, the most annoying thing that Brock can do is block pretty much anything Frank throws at him. You'll still deal damage♍ when he blocks, but it's m🔯assively reduced and something that he throws pretty much every chance that he gets.

The most dangerous attack that Brock has is one where he'll get Frank in a stranglehold and quickly start depleting his health. If you get hit with this with low enough health, it's basically game over since he causes so much damage in such a short amount of time. You can wiggle out of this one by mashing or holding a button down, but it's usually game over. You can tell it's coming when he starts swinging his arms in a stance that makes a PP marker pop up on screen.

Defeating Brock

Frank using the Double Lariat in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

When the fight against Brock starts, he and Frank will be standing opposite one another on the roof of the tank, which acts as the main arena. While there aren't too many zombies around, you should stay on top of the tank for as long as you can. That also means that dodge rolling is a pret𝓰ty risky move, so make sure not to use that too muchꦛ.

Since you can't use any kind of weapon against Brock, that means you're totally reliant on Frank's hand-to-hand moves and special abilities. That sounds rough, but they're actually very useful here and can deal some major damage. The main ones you're going to want to keep in mind are the Double Lariat, Knee Drop, and Somersault Kick, which all hit hard even if he blocks them.

I found the Somersault Kick to be the easiest move to use against Brock reliably, but I𝐆 know that a lot of fans prefer to use the Double Lariat. Whatever one strikes your fancy is a good one to use, though.

When you deal enough damage to Brock, he'll be stunned and sit on his knees, giving you a button prompt to pull off a powerful move against him. Make sure you always do this when given the option, as it's one of the best ways to attack him. The final button prompt you'll be given is also the only way 🦩to actually finish the fight and t🌳ake him out.

Beyond that, it's just a case of staying on the tank, not getting hit with attacks, and keeping a very close eye on Brock preparing his chokehold killing move. When you see the PP sticker, get far away from him and prepare to counter as soon as𒈔 he misses the grab. It's a great way of dealing damage and stops Frank from being killed.

Rewards For Defeating Brock Mason

Frank finishing off Brock in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

As the final boss of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, there aren't really any tangible in-game weapons or items that are rewarded for defeating Brock. The main thing you'll get aside from an achievement or trophy is the ability to play Infinity Mode, anothe✨r very challenging section of Dead Rising and one that offers a bunch of n🐼ew challenges.

Even without a new weapon or costume, you should still give yourself a pat on the back for managing ✤to get through one of Dead Rising's most difficult fights. The journey is nearly over, my friends.
