Although the zombies might be the stars of the show in , they're by far the easiest enemies you're going to encounter during your time in Willamette Mall. In a 🐠tale as old as time, the re🔯al threats in Dead Rising are the human enemies, also known as Psychopaths.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster - Adam The Clown Psychopath Gui💃de
One of Dead Rising's early r෴oadbl🦄ocks is Adam the Clown - here's how to defeat him.
As you make your way through the story, you'll encounter Psychopaths as part of Scoops and they tend to be some of the game's most challenging moments. Your first taste of this will be the Prisoners, one o♔f the most infamous encounters in the𝔉 whole series.
𒅌The Prisoners are generally referred to as the Convicts by mos🎃t Dead Rising fans, but seeing as how their Scoop is titled Prisoners, we'll stick with that for now.
How To Find The Prisoners
While most Psychopaths in Dead Rising are hinted at by Otis when he gives you a scoop, the Prisoners are a completely different story and are one of a few unannounced encounters. As soon as you enter Leisure Park for the first time after 6pm on Day 1 (Septem💛ber 19), a cutscene will play showing the Prisoners wreaking havoc in their Humvee.
From that moment on, the Prisoners will roam around Leisure Park indefinitely until Frank defeats them, which makes getting across to the Food Court or North Plaza a real pain unless you're using the Wonderland Plaza shortcut. Uniquely, the Prisoners will also respawn every day at midnight, which means you'll have to get rid of or avoid the♓m every in-﷽game day.
The Prisoners won't respawn when you reach Case 8ꦯ-1, at which point they'll be replaced by an even more annoying enemy.
How To Defeat Or Escape The Prisoners
Avoiding The Prisoners
As soon as the Prisoners spawn in, you're going to need to decide whether you want to avoid them completely for now or take them on. If you want to avoid them, bring a Skateboard into the battle and hightail it wherever you need to go. You can always deal with them later when you've got more resources, although you'll want to save Sophie as soon as the cutscene plays as she'll end up being killed if you run.
Guns Are Frank's Best Friend Against The Convicts
If you're planning on defeating the Prisoners, there are a few good ways of doing so. The most reliable is to bring several guns to Leisure Park and shoot at them from afar. The Sniper is perfect for this, although it's tough to find until you defeat Cletus and get his Gun Shop. A great alternative is to grab a Handgun from a zombie cop or get the Submachine Gun from Paradise Plaza that spawns on the awning above Cam's Camera.
If you're coming from Al Fresca Plaza after helping Brad ouꦯt, it's worth grabbing the Sℱubmachine Gun that spawns in the fountain near the Entrance Plaza doors.
When you've got some guns, all you need to do is get close to the Prisoners and then fire at them. No matter what weapon you use, it's best to take out the Prisoner with the heavy gun first as he's the one likely to do the most damage to you. You should then 💝take out the driver to stop the Prisoners moving aroun🧸d, before moving on to the final bat-wielding Convict.
Melee Weapons Aren't A Bad Option, Though
If you're struggling to get a hold of a gun, melee weapons can be effective on the Prisoners too, although it's a much riskier move. If you do it this way, you'll want to grab a few Baseball Bats, a Mannequin Torso, and the infinitely spawning Katana on the awning near Colombian Roastmasters in Paradise Plaza. These weapons deal great damage from up close and are worth having whene𝕴ver you run through Paradise Plaza.
When leaving from Al Fresca Plaza and the Food Court, grab a Lead Pipe, Sickle, and Sledgehammer from McHandy'📖s Hardware, as they're powerful options too that infin♔itely spawn from that shop.
Taking out the Prisoners with a melee weapon is a little tougher, as you'll need to bait them into driving into a tree and getting stuck. They do that quite often anyway, but just make sure to stand behind a tree when they're near so that they follow you. Once they crash, run up and hit them as much as 🐻possible, making sure to heal when they start driving away.
Both options are reliable for defeating the Prisoners, but as with any fight in Dead Rising, make sure that you've got plenty of healing items and make good use of the improved dodge rol🍒l in De☂luxe Remaster.
Rewards For Defeating The Prisoners
Every Prisoner you defeat will reward Frank with 3,000 PP, which means you can get a total of 9,000 from defeating all three. You'll also make sure that Leisure Park is a bit safer to traverse in the process, along with getting access to the Humvee that they drive around. Jumping into it for the first time will award you the Carjacker Achievement and give you a new Prisoner-themed outfit in the process.
Defeating the Prisoners also allows you to take the Heavy Machine Gun from the Humvee and carry it around, whไich is one o♛f the most powerful guns in the game. It's very limited and only spawns from the Prisoners, but it's worth picking up and carrying around for as long as you can.
Defeating all three Psychopaths counts as one point towards the Punisher challenge that requires you to defeat 10 Psychopat﷽hs overall.
