There's more than one way to skin a necromorph. And with the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dead Space remake's newfangled peeling system, that's no joke — the Force Gun can quite literally blast the skin off of a necromorph. Still, Isaac mustn't hold back in his fight for survival aboard the USG Ishimura, as the reanimated corpses of the crew certainly won't pull any punches.
There are seven weapons in Dead Space, each of which packs an alternate fire mode that compounds the destruction or helps you strategize when taking on an onslaught of monsters. Like anything in life, some alt-fire modes a🥃re more effective than others.
7 Plasma Cutt𝔉er
Isaac's most iconic weapon is his slicing and dicing projectile weapon, the Plasma Cutter. No matter which Dead Space entry you've played in the past, Isaac seemingly goes nowhere without this trusty weapon that helps him sever the limbs of the transforming undead.
Because the Plasma Cutter is Isaac's most basic weapon, its alternate fire mode isn't quite as fancy as the other weapons in his arsenal. However, it's still entirely useful given the nature of the weapon. This secondary fire method simply rotates the angle of the plasma cutter's projection between horizontal and vertical. It helps you get strategic about your surgical takedown of the monsters charging at you.
6 Ripper
Perhaps, one of the bloodiest weapons available aboard the Ishimura is appropriately named the Ripper. It's a weapon that projects and holds a circular bladed disc, so Isaac can quite literally saw through flesh and bone.
Its secondary firing method shoots the disc entirely free of the weapon and straight ahead at whatever Isaac is aiming at. The blade will ricochet off walls, potentially zipping through the flesh of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:necromorphs multiple times before it's eventually brought to a screeching halt. The only real problem with this firing method is the potential to miss in the heat of the moment, wasting precious ammo.
5 🎐 Flamethrower
The Flamethrower will really make you feel like MacReady in John Carpenter's seminal film, The Thing. Torching necromorphs is one of the best ways to maintain a level of crowd control during an assault, largely keeping the creatures at bay as they roast alive.
But there's even a greater defensive tactic with this weapon's alternate firing method. Using it releases a blast that creates a wall of fire. This is perfect for when you are being assaulted from multiple angles, as it will help stave off one enemy while you turn to deal with another.
4 Pulse Rifle ♛ ♎
The Pulse Rifle is the only true rapid-fire weapon available in the game. However, it has one of the best mechanisms to combat groups of enemies and deal significant damage in onℱe shot.
The secondary firing method launches a proximity round that detonates on contact. The explosion will likely kill average necromorphs or the smaller Lurkers in a direct hit. It will most assuredly maim enemies in its blast radius, severing multiple limbs in the process. It's best used to break up a group of necromorphs charging at you.
3 Line Gun
The Line Gun is basically the Plasma Cutter on steroids. Though, it doesn't rotate between horizontal and vertical fire. You're stuck with horizontal. However, it has one of the best defensive mechanisms, much like the Flamethrower, for strategizing a necromorph assault.
The secondary fire launches tripwire-style traps at walls, heavily damaging Necromorphs running through the lasers the device emits. In this game, you'll quickly learn that when the lights go out and quarantine red lights appear, you're heading into a fight. Quickly launch some of these around the room to help control the situation.
2 Force Gun
The Force Gun emits a powerful blast of energy at enemies. The closer you are to an enemy, the more devastating it is. But the alternate firing method actually works extremely well in tandem with this weapon's primary firing mode.
Using the secondary fire launches a gravity well that pulls all the enemies in the area to it, bunching them up. While it deals some damage, it's really a tactical maneuver for you to take out multiple enemies at once. Blast them all with the Force Gun's primary mode, or switch to the Pulse Rifle and launch a proximity mine and watch the necromorph's limbs fly.
1 ♌ Contact Beam ಞ
As far as damage is concerned, the Contact Beam is, perhaps, the most punishing weapon in the game. Holding down the trigger will unleash a devastating beam that will bore through enemies. It's highly useful in a pinch.
The Contact Beam's secondary fire is even more damaging. Holding down the alternate fire trigger charges up a single shot that pummels an enemy with intense explosive force. It will kill most necromorphs with a single fully-charged blast on Normal difficulty. If you're struggling in any particular area, this might be the gun to unleash on those pesky monstrosities. And it must be said, every charged blast will have you smiling ear to ear.
