One such fan, llSCPll, has announced that t𒀰hey are developing an unofficial game played entirely within Discord called "Deep Space". They explain that it "runs [...] through a bot," meaning that it's text-based. However, it still has rendered images and a sound engine, with completely original assets.

"Deep Space is a free to play game and predicted to be at least five-to-seven hours to beat at full release," llSCPll said. "No profit is made dire🧸ctly from the game itself. We love Dead Space, and we know many of you do too. This passion project is our tribute to the series and adding our own twists to the storyline. Yes, DSDS is a real-time based game just like the other entries in Dead Space and has been thoroughly stress-tested and optimised".

Unofficial Fan Game Dead Space: Deep Space's Story Follows A New Protagonist

This unofficial fan game doesn't seek to continue the story of Isaac Clarke after the third game, but instead follows a new protagonist called Felix Everett. Set in 2509, placing it between the first two Dead Space games, we step in🌞to the shoes of this new crew as they investigate the Centauri space station after it goes completely dark.

In 🌳the screenshots embedded above, you can see how the game works in practice. Felix has a health bar, stasis charges, and equipped weapons, all of which you can manage via the Discord bot. Despite being text-baꦗsed, you can still use your weapons to dismember Necromorphs in real-time, with your health, ammo, and the enemy's status all relayed to you live.

Each room has a map with a dot depicting your character, complete with save stations so that yo🍒u can make note of your progress. It has all the survival horror, Dead Space hallmarks, just in🅰 Discord bot form. It's an interesting experiment, to say the least, but the main concern many fans have is how long such a project will survive before EA clamps down.
