I played and finished 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Death Stranding back in 2019. In 2025, it finally makes a bit of sense. This isn’t to say I’ve had a revelation or 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:fina🐓lly understand th💟e ‘vision’ of Hideo Kojima, but rather, the recap provided with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Death Stranding 2 does an incredible job of exp😼laining everything. In fact, it does a much better job of telling the first game’s story than the entire game.
I’m not coming here to say ‘Death Stranding = Bad’, don’t worry; 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:I h💧ave a mixed relationship with the gam♑e, but I do enjoy what it had to offe🔥r. Instead, I’m thinking about how this recap handles the expansive terminology and world events that are a part of Death Stranding.
Death Stranding Almost Makes Sense Now… Almost
When you start up the first Deatꦺh Stranding, you’ll get a monologue followed by long cutscenes with unfamiliar characters saying unfamiliar words referring to unfamiliar things, all significant in that world. BTs, DOOMs, timefall, and even the Death Stranding itself are all words just sprinkled in as if they make sense. The problem is, these things are never explicitly explained, at least outside of the in-menu explanations, which are an extra step of studying to gather the exposition that the characters and writing don’t give us directly. This should really be stuff we understand the basics of before diving headfirst into a vast, lore-rich world.
As someone who hasn't played the first game since 2019, the recap was helpful, but as I mentioned, it actually explains everything a lot better than the first game ever did. Terminology, world events, and what the apocalyptic stuff actually is. I'm all for games baking in lore under the surface to be discovered like the infamously intricate💧 and secretive Dark Souls series, but when the first game threw a bunch of madeಞ-up words at me, I'd have preferred a summary like this one to ease the long trek I had to make way back when.
With this recap, I immediately had a clearer grasp of what the Death Stranding was, how the voidouts work, and had a better understanding of Sam’s haphephobia. Even the objective of the entire first game was in a compact, succinct summary, which so often felt lost in translation in the 50 hours I spent on the original Death Stranding, as I continued trying to figure out what was going on and whatꦿ anything meant.
I’m still a bit foggy on the World War flashbacks and what’s going on with Higgs, but hey, I’ll take what I can get. I’m relieved to🅠 be picking up Death Stranding 2 with a strong understanding of all the important stuff - a stronger understanding than ever, in fact - so I can get lost in the world of shoots and ladders, as I strategically take down bandits and cross the deepest ravines.
I’m hoping Death Stranding 2 can keep up this level of explanation, and doesn’t spiral into another quickfire round of even more terminology that✃ will only pile up as I progress. I don’t need you to hold my hand, Kojima, but please, you can’t just come up with a word and not explain before moving on🅷.
