Death Stranding finally🦩 has a release date, and it’s a lot earlier than we 🎃expected.
We’ve been getting teased for years about Hideo Kojima’s next game following his ejection from the Metal Gear franchise. Even after 3 years, we still don’t have a clue as to what this game is truly about, but this latest 🧸trailer seems to finally be bringing all these disparate pieces together.
It also gave us a release date: Novem🤡ber 8th, 2019.
In an 8-minute long video more like a movie short than a trailer, not only do we get to see more of the strange post-apocalyptic world of Death Stranding, we also get to see some game🎀play footage to see just what exactly the player will be doing
Most of what the player does seems to be very Metal Gear-ish. There is a lot of cr🔯ouching over trying not to be detected as Sam (played by Norman Reedus) attempts to sneak from one destination to the other. We know from past trailers that odd, invisible creatures are out there that can easily kill you, and only a baby in a jar can ꦑhelp you detect them.
In addition, Sam seems to know some self-defense moves, can summon enormous ladders to cross over chasms in the wilderness, and also can fire an assault rifle during a strange episode that seems to take place during the First World War. We’ve no idea how the player gets transported back in time, but that Death Stranding will explore the realms of life and﷽ death and the connectiᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚons between them.
We also found out in the trailer that the strange in🌜visible demons are called “BTs”, the jar babies are called “bridge babies”, and that they somehow “plug into the other side.”
Our guess? Something happened to the world to cause the dead to have a lot more say over the world of the living than th🌠ey alr𓄧eady do. A lot more.
But most ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚimportantly, we got a date. November 8th. Mark your calendar, and stay tuned for pre-order details.
