The end is never the end when it comes to the average Souls games. Just like and after it, on the offers players a host of content long after the credits roll. Beyond encouraging replay value throu🌳gh a New Game + that progressively gets harder, Demon’s Souls’ experimen🌃tal gameplay incentivizes return playthroughs time and time again.

While there isn’t much new content, BluePoint Games weren’t content simply remaking Demon’s Souls as it was on the . The remake is not only a reinvention, but in many ways an expansion – offering a new gameplay mode that radically redesigns the Demon’s Souls experience. Whether plaﷺying through New Game + or indulging in PvP, Demon’s Souls lasts as long as players want it to.

10 New Game +

Maiden in Black PS5

Unlike in Dark Souls 2 or 3, players are immediately thrust into New Game + upon defeating the final boss in Demon’s Souls. It’s arguable, however, that the point of no return is muc🌠h earlier as the Maiden in Black locks players out of leveling the moment they defeat their fifth Archdemon. Not just that, leveling is locked out on NG+ until Phalanx is defeated.

It’s also worth keeping in mind that the spike in difficulty from a first playthrough to NG+ is much higher in Demon’s Souls than in subsequent . Heading into New Game + unprepared can be a disa🔯ster waiting to happen. That said, the spike in difficulty does offer a welcome ch﷽allenge and a fresh way of revisiting earlier stages.

9 Fractured Mode

Demon's Souls Fractured Mode

BluePoint Games made sure not to make many gameplay chang🤡es while remaking Demon’s Souls, but there is a fairly sizable addition via Fractured Mode. By making a 25,000 offering to the statue in the Nexus, players will be able to unlock Fractured Mode – a mirrored version of the main game that disorients familiarity in order to offer a deeper challenge. Similar to⭕ Master Quest’s relationship with Ocarina of Time, Fractured Mode bre🦩athes new life into an older game.

8 Level Grind

Demon's Souls Level Up

As most players will cap out their first playthrough anywhere between Soul Level 70 and 80, it’s worthwhile to spend some time grinding in New Game +. It’s not particularly difficult given how many more souls enemies now drop (and th💛e fact that players can now double up on boss souls,) but also valuable in mitigating the post-game’s difficulty.

Although most players advise stopping betwee♕n Soul Level 120 and 125 in order to make the best use out of the online community, the existence of password based matchmaking means players will always be able෴ to summon & play with their friends regardless of Soul Level. Grind away.

7 Upgrade Weapons

Demon's Souls Boldwin

Arguably more important than a player’s Soul level is their gear. While armor can’t be upgraded in Demon’s Souls – playing up the fanbase’s penchant for “Fashion Souls” – weapons can, and splinter off into quite a few upgrade tiers. It’s suggested to have a fully upgraded weapon either going into New Game + (not always possible depending on the build) or early into the next cycle. The sooner players pick out their main weapon and fully upgr🔯ade it, the sooner they can power through the rest of Demon’s Souls.

6 PvP

Demon's Souls Old Monk

There’s no getting around the fact that PvP i🉐s the lifeblood of any Souls game. Even Demon’s Souls’ཧ PS3 release featured consistent invaders up until the official servers went down (and since on private servers!) Fully leveled and with an upgraded weapon, there’s no reason not to indulge in PvP – especially in New Game +.

As Demon’s Souls builds up its player base and more people buy PS5s, invasion🌜s💫 will become more frequent. Don’t run away, embrace them. Being invaded is a crucial part of the Demon’s Souls experience and getting into the rhythm of PvP does wonders in drawing out the game’s length.

5 Defeat King Doran

King Doran Battle

Demon’s Souls’ main secret boss, King Doran inside of the Mausoleum in 1-1 – guarded by a lone Red Eye Knight savvy players will have avoided at the start of the game. King Doran can be challenged after killing✅ Ostrava and looting the Mausoleum Key off him. Doran himself drops🐓 two viable pieces of gear: his sword, Demonbrandt, and the Ancient King set, four incredible pieces of armor.

Doran is extremely powerful and will kill most players in just a few hits, if that. Mages have the benefit of throwing down Death Cloud to chip away at the King’s health, but melee char✱acters will be fighting an uphill battle. Thankfully, Doran’s health only has to be brought down to 2/3 in order to get the Demonbrandt.

4 Slay The Dragons

Demon's Souls Blue Dragon

While King Doran is Demon’s Souls’ only official secret bossꦯ, he’s not the only optional enemy of note in the game. Both the Red and Blue Dragons can actually be killed, even if th🐬e story never prompts the player to do so. Of course, killing either Dragon is easier said than done and simply won’t be done by most players who rely exclusively on melee weapons.

The Red Dragon can be found in 1-2, where it can be safely sniped with arrows or magic♈ from the top of the watchtowers. The Blue Dragon waits perched in 1-4 where it poses a more immediate threat, but it can 💧be safely killed from the top of the staircase leading to False King Allant.

3 Get Pure White World Tendency

Demon's Souls Tendency Message

World Tendency is the means by which Demon’s Souls’ world is governed by. By defeating bosses, Black Phantoms, and helping Phaꩲntoms restore their bodies, players can build White Tendency in a world. White Tendency not only makes enemies weaker (dropping less souls,) it opens up side quests in each major area.

White World Tenden🌊cy is the only means of seeing everything Demon’s Souls has to offer, but keep in mind: it becomes impossible 🍰to reach Pure White World Tendency after the Archdemon is defeated. For anyone who wants to manipulate White World Tendency as much as possible, keep the Archdemon alive.

2 Get Pure Black World Tendency

Demon's Souls PS5 World Tendency

Where White World Tendency makes enemies weaker and opens up side quests, Black World Tendency makes them much stronger while greatly increasing the drop rate of rare items. Not just that, Black Phantoms and Primeval Demons spawn into the world once pushed to Pure Black, offering greater gameplay challenge🔥s. Unlike White World Tendency, Black World Tendency can be manipulated and achieved in Pure form as simple as dying seven times in body form (in their respective world.)

1 Start A New Build

Demon's Souls PS5 Royal

When all is said and done, the best way of replaying Demon’s Souls is by making a new character outright. While the remake doesn’t have as many build options♛ as Dark Souls, there’s plenty of gameplay variety to Demon’s Souls classes. Getting through the game as a knight is a fundamentally different experience than as a mage, with both facing the🐟ir own unique challenges that the other might just breeze by.

Experiment with the dozens of weapons at play, learn all the magic there is, or just snipe enemies from afar as an archer. Demon’s Souls is a game designed to be played in a number of distinct styles. Simply playing through the story once, or always replaying the same class, only 🥀does yourself a disservice.
