This year's Festival of the Lost event has seen some minor changes compared to previous years, notably the addition of Eerie Engrams that allow for specific reward focusing. This guide will cover how Festival of the Lost works this year, explain how to complete Eva's introductory quest, and cover every Event Challenge and unique weapon tied to this year's Festival of the Lost.

What Is Festival Of The Lost?

Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost 2023 Eva Levante

Festival of the Lost is Destiny 2's annual Halloween event that runs from October 17 to November 07. Besides adding festive decorations to the Tower, Festival of the Lost (FOTL for short) adds a unique playlist called Haunted Sectors to the game. These play quite differently from your typical Lost Sector, requiring you to initiate summoning rituals to spawn Hive Knights with pumpkin heads. Slay as many as possible to acquire Candy and Eerie Engrams, this season's unique currency types. You can then use Candy to acquire event-exclusive weapons or 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:focus your Eerie Engrams into specific rewards.

In essence, FOTL is a great event for New Lights and returning Guardians that want to expand their Exotic collection. The Eerie Engrams you obtain from Haunted Sectors may be focused into Exotic armor, potentially dropping an armor piece you don't own in your collection. This makes Haunted Sectors a fantastic alternative to Legend Lost Sector farming. There's also an exclusive weapon memento up for grabs this year that provides an all black shader to any crafted weapon it's installed onto.

Changes From Last Year

  • Haunted Sectors now have a Legend variant, dropping additional rewards.
  • A new Engram type, Eerie Engrams, may drop from Haunted Sectors. Legend has a higher drop rate.
    • Eerie Engrams may be focused to drop specific FOTL weapons or Exotic armor pieces.
  • A new Heavy GL, Acosmic, drops during the event.
  • Haunted Sectors have a low chance of dropping a new weapon memento after completing the "Twilight" Triumph.
    • Memento shader is all black with a matte finish.

Classic Carving Quest Guide

Destiny 2 Classic Carving Quest

When you first log in during Festival of the Lost, Eva Levante will give your character the "Classic Carving" quest when you first talk to her. You'll find Eva in the Tower, located in between Rahool and the Postmaster. The quest is fairly short and acts as a tutorial for the event. Eva will ask you to:

  • Equip a Festival of the Lost mask.
  • Complete a Haunted Lost Sector
  • Reveal a lore page in the Book of the Forgotten.

After grabbing the quest, Eva Levante will give you a Festival of the Lost mask. You must equip the mask to earn Candy from slain foes. The mask counts as a helmet and is equipped like any other armor piece; it is not an ornament. Once you have a mask equipped, y🌌ou can boot up the Haunted Sector playlist in the Tower to start earning rewards.

Haunted Lost Sectors

Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost Headless One

Matchmaking

Both the Normal and Legend variants of Haunted Se🉐ctors feature matchmaking.

Haunted Sectors is a dedicated Lost Sector playlist that's located in the Tower. This playlist will launch you and two other Guardians into one of four Lost Sectors. Your fireteam's goal is to complete as many summoning rituals as possible. Unlike a traditional Lost Sector, Haunted Sectors spawn summoning circles that spawn Headless Ones when charged. These are Ascendant Knights with pumpkins for heads. They're fairly tanky, especially on Legend difficulty, so don't be afraid to use your Heavy or Super. Each slain Headless One will spawn Candy and reveal another circle. Kill as many as possible within four minutes.

Once you've dealt with the Headless Ones, a boss will spawn at the center of the Lost Sector. This boss' HP is partitioned into three chunks, one for each phase of the fight. Removing 33% of the boss' HP will cause it to become immune. Summoning circles will begin to appear when the boss is immune, summoning Headless Ones when activated. Defeat the Headless Ones to spawn pumpkin bombs, then use those bombs to strip the boss' immunity shield. Repeat this process until you've slain the boss. A chest will spawn shortly thereafter with your rewards, concluding the Haunted Sector run.

Spectral And Manifested Pages

Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost 2023 Book of the Forgotten Volume 3

As you complete activities during Festival of the Lost, you'll acquire Spectral Pages. These pages are unusable on their own, but they can be converted into Manifested Pages by defeating Headless Ones in Haunted Sectors. The more Headless Ones you slay, the more Spectral Pages you'll convert to Manifested Pages.

These Manifested Pages can then be used to unveil lore pages in the Book of the Forgotten, an object located beside Eva Levante in the Tower. Each year of Festival of the Lost has a volume of lore pages to uncover—this year is tagged as Vol. 3. If you want to earn this year's Ghost Writer title, you'll need to uncover all the lore entries from the latest volume. Those not interested in titles can more or less skip this entire system, however, as it doesn't provide weapons, Exotic armor, or Candy. There are 33 lore pages added this year. Each lore entry costs anywhere from 2-7 Manifested Pages to decipher.

Candy And Eerie Engram Focusing

Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost 2023 Tower

During Festival of the Lost, defeating combatants while wearing a Festival of the Lost helmet will drop Candy. This is an event currency used to obtain FOTL weapons and focus Eerie Engrams. Eerie Engrams occasionally drop from Haunted Sectors with a higher drop rate in the Legend playlist. These Engrams always decipher into Festival of the Lost weapons or Exotic armor. Through the use of Candy, you can focus these Eerie Engrams to drop specific weapons or a category of Exotic armor—helmet, gloves, chest, or boots. You may also obtain FOTL weapons by purchasing Mystery Bags for Candy. This is a solid option if you don't own any Eerie Engrams but have a surplus of Candy.

If you wish to acquire Exotic armor or a specific FOTL weapon, speak with Eva Levante in the Tower to access the Hocus Focusing menu. This menu allows you to spend Candy on your Eerie Engrams to re🉐ceive specific Festival of the Lost weapons or Exotic armor pie🦂ces. Exact focusing options are listed below.

FOTL 2023 Event Challenges

Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost 2023 Event Challenge Screen

Event Challenges are time-sensitive Triumphs that award event currencies and title progress. They're identical to Seasonal Challenges but with event-oriented objectives. Festival of the Lost has 17 Event Challenges this year, all of which must be completed to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:earn the Ghost Writer title. You can view your Event Challenges from the "Quests" tab or by speaking to Eva Levante in the Tower. These challenges rem🌄ain active until Festival of the Lost ends.

Event Challenges do not require Event Card ownership.

FOTL 2023 Rewards And Weapon God Rolls

Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost 2023 Armor Sets

Festival of the Lost gives you a chance of earning four unique weapons, the Ghost Writer title, and a great means of farming Exotic armor. Haunted Sectors and Eerie Engram focusing allows you to earn the Horror Story Auto Rifle, Jurassic Green Pulse Rifle, Mechabre Sniper Rifle, and Acosmic Grenade Launcher. Additionally, the Eververse store is also stocked with Halloween-themed ornaments and armor sets. Each armor set may be purchased for 6,000 Bright Dus🙈t or 1,500 Silver.

Twilight Triumph And Lost Memento

The unique weapon memento for this year's Festival of the Lost will only drop after completing the "Twilight" Triumph. It requires the following:

  • Clovis Mask: Complete the Fallen SABER strike. Launching the strike from the Director counts.
  • Nimbus Mask: Defeat 100 enemies on Neonuma.
  • Tormentor Mask: Finish 25 enemies in Legend Haunted Sectors.

Once completed, claim the Triumph to earn the new memento. Additional mementos have a chance of dropping from Eerie Engrams for the duration of this year's FOTL.

A second set of cosmetics is also obtainable through the Event Pass, a sort of secondary Battle Pass that runs parallel to this year's FOTL event. Season Pass owners do not have Event Pass ownership. The Event Pass is not required to complete Event Challenges or unlock the Ghost Writer ti🌞tle.

Acosmic God Roll

Destiny 2 Acosmic

Acosmic is a 150 RPM Void Grenade Launcher with the Search Party origin trait, buffing your ADS strafe speed and ADS speeds while no allies are nearby. This isn't a particularly useful origin trait, an unfortunate theme with this weapon. The Rapid-Fire Frame on Acosmic also means that it deals less DPS in PvE and features a lower Blast Radius value than Adaptive GLs, making Acosmic much less desirable for both PvE and PvP. It's also a Heavy GL, arguably the weakest weapon family for PvE DPS.

Unfortunately, perks don't save this weapon either. Clown Cartridge with either Cascade Point or Explosive Light is a solid combination for melting stunned Champions or minibosses, but this same gimmick is already fulfilled by Regnant, a craftable Void GL from Season of Defiance. Crucible players should skip this weapon outright since its Blast Radius stat is well below Adaptive GLs, but newer players might get some use out of Impulse Amplifier and Explosive Light for 6v6 playlists. It's not the worst GL in the game, but it's far below the likes of Regnant, Wendigo GL3, and the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:recently-released Cataphract GL3. Only New Lights will get use out of Acosmic. Everyo▨ne else can safely skip farming this weapon.

Horror Story God Roll

Destiny 2 Horror Story AR

Horror Story returns in this year's Festival of the Lost, complete with a perk refresh. This weapon is a 450 RPM Auto Rifle that deals Stasis damage, rolling with the Nadir Focus origin trait in addition to Search Party. This makes Horror Story a fairly accurate AR without any perks, perfect for Crucible games♏.

As for perks, this weapon's ideal roll is more nuanced than most Primary weapons. For PvE, Demolitionist with either Frenzy or Adrenaline Junkie will put in some solid work. Throw a grenade, max out Adrenaline Junkie's damage bonus, and land a few kills to refresh your grenade. Frenzy will prove to be more consistent in endgame content.

Crucible players have some solid options but nothing meta-defining. Dynamic Sway Reduction is the clear standout in the third column, mitigating accuracy bloom with sustained fire. This stacks with Nadir Focus to make Horror Story quite accurate for lengthy gunfights. Elemental Capacitor is also a great pick for Arc and Stasis builds. The final column has access to Target Lock, although we don't recommend it since it only improves the TTK leniency by one body shot for most Resilience tiers.

Instead, we recommend you use Collective Action or Frenzy. The former will give you a 10% damage buff after grabbing an elemental pickup, while the latter gives you a 15% damage buff if you consistently deal and/or receive damage over a lengthy period. Both perks reduce Horror Story's TTK to 0.67s, a much more noticeable jump than Target Lock's slight TTK leniency shift. You can easily proc Collective Action with Stasis Shards, Strand Tangles, or Arc's Ionic Traces. And if you prefer to run double Primary, Cascade Point turns this gun into ꦑa 37-meter SMG if you can land a kill with another weapon. Overall, Horror Story is a solid Auto Rifle with many viable perk combinations. PvE has a clear god roll, but Crucible players might struggle to pick a definitive perk combination.

Jurassic Green God Roll

Destiny 2 Jurassic Green

Jurassic Green is a 540 RPM Pulse Rifle that deals Solar damage. PvE players have a few options for scaling this weapon's damage, yet Jurassic Green's archetype (Rapid-Fire Frame) greatly holds it back. 540s don't deal much damage in PvE content outside of seasonal activities, so you'll be forced to use a neutral DPS perk like Frenzy to bump the weapon's damage to reasonable levels. And since the other column seems tailored for PvP, your only options are Subsistence and Keep Away. We recommeꦆnd the former since Frenzy already💦 maxes your reload speed stat.

Crucible players might disregard Jurassic Green for its poor base range, but this can actually be fixed with the right perks. Killing Wind and Encore is a standout combination here, allowing this weapon to reach just shy of 40 meters after a single precision kill. Land another precision kill, and this gun can fight out to 41.5 meters. Of course, both perks require you to land a kill w💞ith an otherwise below-av💯erage weapon archetype.

If you want to make Jurassic Green competitive at 1v1 duels, you'll need to lean heavily on consistency perks. Keep Away and Headseeker are ideal for this, causing your bullets to have greatly increased accuracy and aim assist throughout an entire duel. You'll likely trade with Hand Cannons and other Pulses at Jurassic's intended range, but these perks will ensure that landing your optimal TTK is trivial.

Mechabre God Roll

Destiny 2 FOTL 2022 Mechabre Sniper Rifle

Mechabre is a 72 RPM Sniper Rifle that deals Arc damage. It features 45 zoom, a clear scope, and the Search Party origin trait that gives the weapon a 0.85x ADS scalar while you're away from allies. For comparison, Snapshot Sights is a 0.75x scalar and is considered an S-tier perk for Snipers, so having a slightly weaker version of Snapshot Sights for free is fantastic.

As for perks, PvE players can turn Mechabre into a versatile Special weapon with Keep Away with Voltshot. Keep Away will buff your reload speed while Voltshot infuses your next shot with Jolt lightning after a reload kill. Land a kill, reload, then fire again to fire a lightning-infused round that deals massive damage to nearby targets. For PvP, it's tough to top Snapshot Sights and Opening Shot on this gun. Paired with Search Party, Mechabre's low base handling is hardly noticeable. You can also drop Snapshot Sights for Keep Away if you prefer the accuracy boost over Snapshot's faster ADS time.
