Ever since 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Destiny 2: Forsaken released, Bungie has focused on delivering seasonal content updates that add new activities, characters, and loot for players to earn. With Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, Bungie has doubled-down on this approach.
Seasons have had a mixed reception from fans, some arguing the activities are boring while others love that content drought hasn't carried over from the original Destiny. This debate has reached a melting point in Season of the Worthy, with many fans either frustrated with new activities or overjoyed with this season's build diversity. Here are 5 reasons why Destiny 2's Season of the Worthy is both great and a flop.
10 Great:ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ Legendary Lost Sectors
A seemingly forgotten feature, Lost Sectors are hidden areas filled with enemies and a miniboss at the end. They were hyped up before Destiny 2 launched but have fallen into obscurity.
Season of the Worthy decided to address this by introducing Legendary Lost Sectors, a typical Lost Sector turned mini-Strike. These missions have a much higher Power requirement alongside Champions and modifiers to keep you 🌌on your toes. While not the most difficult activity, they take a few attempts to beat. It puts newfound respect 🍌for how much work went into creating these Lost Sectors.
9 🅷 Flop: Loot
Looter Shooters thrive off of introducing interesting and more powerful items into the game. Destiny 2 has had serious issues introducing powerful weapo𓂃ns without either nerfing it or revamping the entire sandbox.
Most guns that are frequently used come with some type of reloading perk that coincides with a damage buff, ranging from Rampage to Multikill Clip. While this meta was stale, Bungie's solution this season was to simply remove this combination altogether, resulting in most of this season's weapons being underpowered when compared with older guns. Armor didn't fair better. Dozens of armor sets fro🔜m Year 1 return🅰ed but none of them had Seaonsal Mod Sockets until the latest patch, taking over a month to implement.
8 🌺 ♎ Great: Swords
Swords have been underrepresented for most of Destiny 2's lifespan. With the likes of Destiny's Dark Drinker or Raze🎐 Lighter missing, most players have put aside Swords for Grenade Launchers or Machine Guns.
To remedy this, Bungie overhauled Swords in Season of the Worthy to make them more appealing. This already powerful archetype received some buffs overal🐬l, which were further amplified with the Sword-heavy Artifact mods introduced this season.
7 𝓰 Flop: Grandmaster Nightfaꦍlls
Seasons have had a mixed reception when it comes to player retention and pu♓rsuit-worthy goals. Bungie tried to address this witꦏh Trials of Osiris for PvP players and Grandmaster Nightfalls for PvE players.
Sadly, Grandmaster Nightfalls are Master Nightfalls with Contest Modifier and a few more modifiers. These modifiers don't make the content 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:much more challenging, instead opting for revive token mana🃏gement and Champion changes. Pro PvE players will breeze through these activities, but there's little incentive to. Grandmaster Nightfalls can grant anywhere from an Exotic to 3 Enhancement Prisms, rewards on par 🌠with the second-lowest tier of Nightfall difficulty. Currently, there is no reason to farm Grandmaster Nightfalls besides the Conqueror title.
6 ༺ Great: Revitalized Planets ꦓ
Most of Destiny 2's planets from vanillꦯa have needed something to spice them up. The Seraph Bunkers introduced this season do just that to great effect.
A new Public Event has been introduced on Earth, Io, Mars, and the Moon that ties into Seraph Bunkers. Completing these Public Events and Legendary Lost S🧸ectors rewards Warmind Bits you can use to upgrade each Bunker. While this grind is tedious, the Event itself is a great addition and has seen a surge of players patrolling older planets.
5 Flop: Bugs ꦛ
Telesto has been notorious for being the catalyst for many of Destiny 2's bugs. That discovery lead to many bug-hunts, culminat✤ing into stat snapshotting by item switching.
In essence, certain Exotics can be unequipped and equipped quickly to keep the buff until death. Of course, this has resulted in these i꧃tems being disabled for weeks or even months while Bungie works on a patch. Th♎is has plagued Wormgod Caress and Winter's Guile for over three seasons now! Worse yet, two out of the three newly introduced armor Exotics added this season have been disabled at some point due to bugs. Whether this is a lapse in Quality Assurance testing or is unfixable is currently unknown.
4 🅘 Great: Narrative
Fans enjoyed Saint-14's involvement with Season of Dawn, and it seems that Bungie has continued this trend🐈 by pu💫tting Rasputin back in the spotlight.
Players work alongside Ana Bray, Zavala, and Rasputin to shoot down The Almighty before it crashes straight into The Last City. Each week has revealed new interactions between the characters alongside teases for the upcoming Darkness faction that Shadowkeep hinted at.
3 💯 Flop: Trials Of Osiris ꦗ
Crucible players have wanted a truly Competitive game type since Trials of the Nine was removed from Destiny 2 during its first year. Trials of Osiris from Destiny made i🧸ts return this season and the PvP crowd couldn't be happie💜r.
That is until they played it. A loot system that expands the further you grind a ticket means players would reset their card to target farm items, resulting in skilled players dominating c🌼asuals. Worse yet, those who went flawless get no unique weapons ! Cheats run rampant on the PC version, compromising the competitive nature of Trials. Fans were, and still are, furious. Now, the playlist lays ridden with a broken loot system and hacke🅠rs fighting each other.
2 🤡 Great: Warmind💟 Cells
Loot itself might be lacking this season, but the mods introduced certainly aren't. Warmind Cells make up for the disappointing weapons this season 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:due to their massive potential.
These orange balls spawn from Seven Seraph weapons and result in a massive explosion when destroyed. Mods can alter their behavior, increasing their damage or granting ovꩵershields when walked over. New builds have been enabled thanks to this system, and it is easily Season of the Worthy's most redeeming quality.
1 🃏 Flop: Bounties
Trials of Osiris and Grandmaster Nightfalls wouldn't have felt so bad if the core gameplay loop of Destiny 2 wasn't so Bounty-oriented like it is currently.
Nearly every Bounty tied to this season's Seraph Bunkers require players to engage in activities in unorthodox ways, ranging from getting Void Super kills during a Solar Burn to killing Fallen in Strikes (there's only one Fallen Strike in t🌟he game). This season's Guardiജan Games activity follows this exact model as well. The game's core game loop is now focused on farming Bounties to level up the Season Pass instead of grinding to play endgame activities.
