Ever since the release of Beyond Light, Bungie has struggled to get a handle on the beast they’ve unleashed in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Destiny 2’s PvP game modes. Stasis, by and large, has dominated the Crucible at all levels and for every class, with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:players calling for Stasis nerfs continually for the last six months.
And on this point at least, Bungie has certainly listened. Stasis has been hit with nerf after nerf for the past 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:two seasons, but no matter how many nerfs Bungie throws at the problem, Stasis remains both stubbornly str🎃ong and stubbornly popular▨.
With Season of the Splicer, Bungie is taking a different approach to reigning in Stasis. Rather than release another round of nerfs (although they did perform some slight tuning of Stasis abilities 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:in the last update, too), Bungie released a new Titan Exotic armor that takes aim at Destiny 2’s Stasi𒈔s meta.
The new Exotic is called The Path of Burning Steps, and its perk soꩲrt of has two abilities running simultaneously. First is an ability that provides an escalating bonus to weapon damage after Solar final blows. After killing your second enemy with Solar damage ♊while wearing these boots, you’ll get a stack of Firewalker. Rack up to four stacks for a 20% damage boost to all weapons.
Honestly, that alone would have made these boots fairly impressive, but then there’s the second part that r🦂eally pours on the Stasis hate. Whenever you get hit with a Stasis ability, you gain a stack of Firewalker. On top of that, you’re harder to slow, harder to freeze, and when you do get frozen you take no damage for breaking out of your icy prison. Oh, and you'll also unleash a Solar nova when you do.
The Path of Burning Steps not only reduces the effectiveness of all Stasis abilities, but it also provides the wearer with a damage buff the more they get h🅠it with Stasis. And given the density of Stasis players in the Crucible, you’re basically guaranteed to get hit with Stasis at some point in every single PvP match.
It’s still too early in the season to know how ♊much of an effect this new Exotic will have on the Crucible meta, but early testing reveals it can be a very potent force. Players haven’t learned to av🏅oid throwing Stasis abilities at Titans wearing Path of Burning Steps, and the damage boost is both substantial and consistent in matches--something that’s hard to find in the Crucible.
It’s also interesting to see Bungie trying something new. If Path of Burning Steps proves effective at𝔍 altering the Crucible meta for Titans, we might see similar anti-Stasis Exotics for Destiny 2’s other classes. Then we could be headed to two truly bizarre scenarios.
The first option in thiඣs hypothetical anti-Stasis armor world is everyone wears the new Exotics to g▨et the upper hand against Stasis. But since everyone is wearing these Exotics, nobody would actually use Stasis, effectively eliminating Stasis from the Crucible entirely.
Or, the more likely scenario is that we reach some sort of equilibrium between Stasis and anti-Stasis Exotics. Some will wear them because they just real🅷ly hate Stasis, and some will still use Stasis because they just really like the subclass’s abilities or because they think they can work around the few people that are trying to deliberately counter them.
Either way, Stasis gets pared back significantly compared to where it is now (which is pretty much everywhere). I don’t think anyone would compla♎in too much if the first scenario plays out and Stasis gets relegated to PvE content only, but that’s probably just wishful thinking.
I’ll be kee☂ping an eye on every Titans’ feet this season to see what they’re wearing and see how it changes things in PvP. Bungie probably has their fingers crossed on this experiment as much as mine are.
