The third entry in the Devil May Cry series will be heading to the Nintendo Switch next year. According to the official Devil May Cry Twitter page, Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition will be heading to the Nintendo Switch on February 20 and will cost $19.99. Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition is an upgraded version of Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening for the PlayStation 2. The changes to the special edition included making Vergil a playable characterꦅ, adding several new difficulty modes were꧂, debuting the 9999 floor Bloody Palace, and including new boss battles against Jester.
The first two games in the Devil May Cry series have already been released on the Nintendo eShop. This has led to fan speculation that other games in the series would follow in the future. There has been some talk of Devil May Cry 5 coming to the Nintendo Switch in the future, though that's apparently dependant on if the port of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen sells well.
The addition of more Devil May Cry games is making fans wonder if Dante will be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a DLC character. There is only one character left in the original Fighters Pass, but Masahiro Sa꧙kurai has confirmed that more are on their way for a second offering. Dante would certainly be a popular choice for inclusion.
The fact that Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition is coming to the Nintendo Switch suggests that Devil May Cry 4 will also follow in the future. It wouldn't pose much of a technical challenge for the system since it first released on Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2008. Devil May Cry 5 might prove to be too much for the Nintendo Switch, but companies have managed to work miracles (such as with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt), so anything is possible.
