An anime adaptation of from Studio Mir is "coming soon" to , with longtime series developer Hideaki Itsuno confirmed to be acti💯ng as a supervisor on the show.
Netflix is currently hosting Drop 01, an online showcase dedicated to the streaming service's upcoming animated shows and movies, including Sonic Prime, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, and more. Although we knew that those projects were going to be showcased at the event, Netflix did have one big surprise in store - an anime adaptation of Devil May Cry.
while rock music played in the background, which hopefully is a sign that the tone will be in line with the games. The teaser also revealed that the animation will be done by Studio Mir, who is known for its work on The Legend of Korra, My Adventures with Superman, : Nightmare of the Wolf and Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge.
The teaser also confirmed that the show has been "created by" Adi Shankar, who is best known for his work on the surprisingly excellent Castlevania anime series on Netflix. That show was praised for its tone, writing, and how it adapted the games for a modern audience, which should all hopefully apply to Devil May𓂃 Cry as well.
Details on the show are a little slim outside of that, as it seems to still be early in development and is only listed as "coming soon" to Netflix. However, from what we're shown in the trailer, it seems likely that the anime will be adapting Devil May Cry 3, as Dante looks to be quite young and is wearing an outfit that is most reminiscent of how he looked in that game. Well, he's wearing a shirt this time, but the strap across his chest is very similar to that outfit.
That being said, it also looks like Dante is wearing a completed version of the Perfect Amulet around his neck, which means that it could be taking place after the first Devil May Cry. With how weird the series timeline has always been, it's not easy to guess when this is supposed to be, but we're sure to find out soon.
