Damage Scaling Is Proportional To Participants
Like in Diablo 3 and most modern MMORPGs, the difficulty and stat scaling of Ashava increases and decreases depending on the number of participants in the event. The players at Game Informer comment that when the൩y fought the World Boss with only the three of them, the mechanics and damage taken felt far lower than later on when they were joined by other players.

The most interesting piece of information gathered from the video is that the World Boss, and presumably other bosses in the game, have a Stagger bar beneath their Health bar that players must actively work to deplete. In games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, the stagger bar must be depleted to do any real damage to most boss characters. For Diablo 4, this may indicate that the gameplay is meant to slow down. Whereas Rift Guardians are now often defeated in a single hit in all 🔯but the highest of Rift Levels, players may need to gradually wear down a World Boss, and, to make it more challenging, be wary of these massive cleave attacks that can kill you in a single hit.
Impressive Rewards, But How Often Can They Be Attained?
When the party succeeds in downing Ashava, they are rewarded with several rare drops and 🍎a legendary. There is no way to know if this will be representative of gear drops ♋when the game officially launches, but it does seem to be a great way to acquire some new gear, especially for players who may jump into the game less frequently.
Like Guild Wars 2, the most reasonable implementation o꧑f Ashava and similar World Bosses would be to put them on a loot timer, meaning that they can only be looted once per reset cycle, which is likely to be on either a 24-hour or one-week schedule.
For those who may not be familiar with how Guild Wars 2 handles World Bosses, for a list of everything that is available. In sum, a player can log in and move from zone to zone, joining large groups of players who prepare for the arrival of certain characters. They arrive at specific times throughout the day, which allows everyone to progress. The gear is not the best of the best, but it is still worth the time for most players, and Diablo 4 may be experimenting with a similar system.
This wou🔯ld allow for progression even when players don't have a lot of time to play and encourage comm💧unity engagement, as players hop on their various characters to ensure they receive drops for the day or week.
