Diablo 4 offers seamless group play, with a maximum party size of four allowing for a variety of interesting class combinations. However, if you prefer to tackle the demon-filled RPG by yourself and are after a forgiving star♔ter build, or enjoy being able ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚto switch up your gameplay every few levels, these classes have got you covered.
This guide will show you some popular build option▨s for the top three classes for solo play in Diablo 4, considering their relative power, but also ease of play and✨ the number of viable build options.
Best All-Round Class For Solo Play
Undoubtedly the best overall class for playing solo is the Necromancer. Summoning an army of skeletal minions to do your bidding helps Necromancer breez🐭e through c𝓡ontent other classes can find rough.
While the Rogues are busy dashing around trying not to get one-shot, Necromancers can sit back and comfortably dish out the destruction while their summons do the heavy lifting.
With multiple viable builds, you can also vary your playstyle. Necro works very well as a casting class, and you can even sacrifice your minion generation for greater personal power.
Other builds rely on creating corpses and can ramp up extremely quickly once you start to get a few early kills. Add to that the excellent healing capabilities of the Necromancer, and you've got yourself a great class for tackling content solo.
Bone Spear
One of the most popular builds for Necromancer is the Bone Spear setup. Relying on hurling powerful Bone spells, this build sees you doing the majority of the work.
Your minions are secondary and the build plays much more like a Sorcerer than a summoner. Your best Aspects are comprised of:
- Splintering Offensive
- Shielding Storm
- Grasping Veins
- Embalmer
- Wind Striker
- Serration
- Umbral
- Exposed Flesh
Try to make your Bone Spears ricochet back off walls or objects for increased damage.

Summoner
At the opposite end of the Necromanceꩵr spectrum is the Summoner build.
While you won't be smashing down bosses with big Bone Spears, empowering your undead guys with various Shadow skills will accelerate their passive damage, and allow you to control the battlefield while they tear through everything in their path. The Aspects you will want to keep an eye out for are:
- Blighted
- Reanimation
- Frenzied Dead
- Viscous
- Protecting
- Blood Getter's
- Coldbringer's
- Hardened Bones

Easiest Class For Solo Play
When it comes to a forgiving playstyle, few can match the Sorcerer.
Powerful crowd control and defensive abilities allow you to escape danger with ease, and with a variety o𒈔f devastating build🤡s on offer, you are sure to find something to suit your style.
Focusing on ranged combat, the Sorcerer excels in a variety of magical schools, including Ice, Fire, and Lightning.
Necromancers may be strong, but Sorcerers don't have to micromanage corpses and possess much more mobility than their undead counterpart.
A perfect class for those new to Diablo 4, the Sorcerer is hard to overlook, and their well-rounded toolkit allows them to excel when played solo, as you won't be missing out on a key aspect of performance.
Ice Shards
Perhaps the most comfortable Sorcerer build is Ice Shards. Relying on a rapid-fire playstyle backed up with a multitude of powerful defensive options, you'll excel in crowd-controlling large packs of enemies before bursting them down with your icicles.
This build scales excellently with Cooldown Reduction, as being able to cast Frost Nova more frequently will greatly empower your clearꦕ speed.
That being said, it is not Legendary reliant, and proves to be a strong contender for best leveling build, as the control it provides is nearly unmatched.
The best Aspects for your Ice Shard build are:
- Piercing Cold
- Storm Swell
- Fortune
- Conceited
- Disobedience
- Ghostwalker
- Elementalist's
- Control
- Prodigy's

Firewall
An alternative to a Frost-based build is to opt for Firewall. If you enjoy setting the enti𓆏re floor on fire and watching your enemies burn, this build is for you.
You won't be spamming missiles from range; instead, you'll be running around and coating the ground in flames.
A strong build for leveling, it is extremely simple to play and is not dependent on specific powers to function. That being said, the Aspect you will want to collect are:
- Edgemaster's
- Storm Swell
- Snowveiled
- Shared Misery
- Smiting
- Disobedience
- Ghostwalker
- Control
- Conceited
- Prodigy's

Firewall Passive Skills
Arc Lash
The third option for Sorcerers is the Arc Lash build. Focused on spamming a short-range lightning blast, Arc Lash will generate numerous procs and might be your preferred build if you enjoy a high-paced close-range playstyle.
You still get to keep all the great Sorcerer utility, but now it comes with the caveat of playing in melee range. A large amount of inbuilt Cooldown Reduction means you are very tanky, and☂ this may be a great build to try if you are unsure of which playstyle will suit you💖.
The best Aspects for this Arc Lash build are:
- Rapid
- Retribution
- Conceited
- Storm Swell
- Exploiter's
- Fortune
- Might
- Control
- Disobedience
- Accelerating

Most Versatile Class For Solo Play
While Necromancer and Sorcerer both shine in terms of solo playing power, a lot of their builds are quite similar, 🐠relying on t💮he same actives to carry them through.
In contrast, the class that can provide the biggest variety in its playstyle is the Druid, as their builds are very distinct, both visually and fr𓆏om a gameplay point of view.
Being able to transform into various animals or opt for a caster or minion build gives Druid a lot of diversit♏y, and you have the opportunity to switch around to find your perfect match.
They might lack a couple of the tools the flashier classes have, but some Druid builds are right up there with the best in terms of power, so don't feel that you are playing a weaker class just because you to experiment.
Pulverize Druid is exceptional in all content, with high damage and survivability. A more fast-paced melee playstyle sees you running the Shred build, focusin๊g💫 on morphing into a Werewolf and clawing your enemies to pieces.
Your typical caster build relies on Tornado, and Druid has a strong arsenal of both Storm and Earth magic at its disposꦇal. You can even experiment with branching out into a summoner minion build, relying on wild animals to whittle down your ꦰfoes.
Pulverize
The best-performing Druid build is the Pulverize setup. This relies on you morphing into a giant Werebear and 🍌unleashing powerful ground slams to destroy enemies.
It comes with a multitude of benefits as you are naturally tanky whilst in Werebear form, with high damage reduction and self-healing.
The one downside is that Pulverize benefits greatly from certain Aspects, and your mileage wil✤l vary considerably depending on ꦐwhen you can get these.
However, if one does drop you can rest assured that you've just unlocked one of the strongest builds available. These Aspects include:
- Crashstone
- Ursine Horror
- Rampaging Werebeast
- Mending Stone
- Quicksand
- Disobedience
- Shockwave
- Retaliation

Shred
Another of the Shapeshifting builds, Shred has you turning into a giant Werewolf, before slashing and poisoning your enemies with rapid attacks.
It lacks the survivability of Pulverize but makes up for it with a faster-paced playstyle and greater mobility. Similar to a Barbarian, this Shred build will see you in the thܫick of the action, tanking hits an🥀d smashing your enemies.
The Aspects you want to keep an eye out for are:
- Blurred Beast
- Disobedience
- Protector
- Dark Howl
- Might
- Eluding
- Vigorous
- Nighthowler's
- Alpha

Tornado
If you like the caster playstyle of Sorcerer and Necromancer but want it on a Druid, then the Tornado build is for you. Centered around utilising Tornado to AoE down enemies, this build is great for beginners and is extremely simple to play.
Picking up a bunch of strong passive effects, you can reliably DPS enemies from afar while staying alive thanks to some♊ nice defensives.
The key Aspects you'll be after for Tornado Druid are:
- Stormchaser's
- Umbral
- Rapid
- Shepherd's
- Mending Stone
- Edgemaster's
- Conceited
- Expectant
- Accelerating
