Earlier this week, a Diablo 4 streamer called Souaïb "carn" Hanaf won the Diablo 4 race and became the first player to reach level 100 on Hardcore Mode. Given how massive the launch of Diablo 4 has been so far, with players already having racked up over 10,000 years of playtime betwe꧒en them, this is a rather impressive accomplishment, albeit at the expense of Hanaf's mind, body, and soul. However, he hasn't been able to celebrate reaching the milestone for very long, as he's now lost the character through no fault of his own.During a recent live stream (thanks ), Hanaf disconnected from the Diablo 4 servers and was booted back the game's main menu. After reloading his game, Hanaf found that his character was nowhere to be seen, which prompted a very panicked search through the game's menu. Unfortunately, his character was gone, along with the 82 hours of time he had spent getting the character to level 100.Related: Now That Tꦦhe Diablo Race Is Over, Can We Admit How Much it Sucked? For those that aren't aware, Diablo 4's Hardcore Mode permanently deletes a character ifꦑ they're killed even once in game. It's a challenge that many Diablo fans enjoy, and was recently promoted by Blizzard itself by promising the first 1,000 players that reach level 100 in this mode that their name will be carved on a statue in the Blizzard offices. It's obvious that Hanaf didn't get their character killed on purpose, so the game must have continued running during the downtime and brutally murdered his character since it's an always online title.

You mꦺay be thinking that Blizzard can't possibly be at fault for someone's dodgy Internet connection, but Hanaf claims that his connection was fine and that the problem was server side. He even wonders if he was the victim of a DDoS attack, although that seems like a bit of a stretch given that he'd already won the Diablo race at this point. Still, you never know how petty some people can be, especially with a race as hot as the Diablo 4 one ൲was.

In any case, it's a heart-breaking moment for Hanaf after so much time and effort was put into their character, and a warning for any other Diablo 4 players out there that your characters are never completely safe. At least his character will forever be immortalised on🌼 a statue at Blizzard HQ - it's just a shame that he'll no longer be able to use it from here on out.
