Diablo 4 is full of surprising locations, from blasts from the past to mysterious and isolated Strongholds. Some might be hidden in plain sight but can be easily overlooked. If you're adventuring, wandering, or trying to get rewards, you won't want to miss out on the locations we've picked out.
Having a massive open world comes with many perks, and for those who like to explore every nook and cranny, you're given a fair amount of foot space in-game. Let's take a look at what awaits us in the hellish world of Diablo.
6 ꦚ Abandoned Diablo 3 Town 🔴
You can find the first town you arrive in the second a🅷ct of Diabloಞ 3, but it has long been abandoned and is in ruins. To find the ghost town from Diablo 3 in Diablo 4, you'll need to go to Kehjistan. It remained hidden until a player posted about it online on Reddit. It's not too hard to get to the town either.
You'll only need to teleport to the Gea Kul waypoint. Be wary, it's better if you already have access to your mounts. Otherwise, it'll take more time to get there. Leave through the north gate. Afterward, just keep walking straight. Once you arrive in this large space, after traveling straight, you should find a road that leads northeast. Follow it. It will turn northwest and then southeast, stay on it.
You should find a "Fields of Hatred&q𝓰uot; zone and then head into the town of Denshar. Leave a Waypoint in this town, then turn back and head northwest until you find a place you can climb up on. You should n♋ow arrive at Forgotten Overlook, which used to be the town in Diablo 3. It is now abandoned and in ruins.
5 The 𒁏Crumbling Vault From Diablo 3
Another reference to Diablo 3 is the "Crumbling Vault" which was located in the Stinging Winds in that version of the game. In Diablo 4, it's been renamed to "The Collapsed Vault" and is now a dungeon. In both versions of the game, the vault is located in an area that leads to Alcarnus.
It can be extremely amusing to find these reference locations, either for the sake of just taking a picture or just because it's fun, and you can take a break from the constant farming and battling. Let your adventurous side show and roam around freely for a little while.
4 Alcarnus💫 & Maghda
The third Diablo 3 reference list is the Road to Alcarnus, which was the path leading to Maghda the witch. In Diablo 4, Alcarnus is now a Stronghold you can liberate. Another ode to Diablo 3🐓 is that the final boss in this stronghold is located exactly in the same room as Maghda in the previous game.
To locate this area, you'll need to head southwest of the Seared Basin and you can reach it by teleporting to the Tarsarak Waypoint. It's in the Kehjistan region. Other than liberating the Stronghold, it's great to see what the developer has changed and what they've kept in-game. Perhaps it's a test for loyal players, to see if they can realize the hidden references.
Whatever the case may be, it can be easily overlooked at the start, whi𒅌ch is what makes it even more fun to find out that it is a reference to Diablo 3.
3 ♉ Moordaine Lodge In Scosglen
In Scosglen, the Moordaine Lodge Stronghold is a worthy visit since you can gain substantial rewards for completing it. It's located north of Tirmair. The lodge is located deep within the Verdant forest, and it's hidden quite well. It was once a favorite of Scosglen's hunters.
Head on over to the North with your mount. When you arrive there, you might have some trouble with entering. Here's what you do: just circle to the right side of the main entry. Go through the northeast gate. There are spawns of enemies that will attack you, so be ready, or avoid them by moving away.
The boss of Stronghold is quite the catch, so be wary and don't let your guard down too much. If you manage to defeat the boss, there's a surprise waiting for you. By vanquishing your enemies in this Stronghold you're given access to the "Twisted Hollow" dungeons and to "Ferals' Den".
2 Hope's Light In Scosglen
This Stronghold is way up north of Scosglen. It has quite an intriguing mission to be accomplished too, so we recommend visiting this particular Stronghold just because of the mystery that surrounds it. When you arrive at Hope's Light, you'll need to reach the top of a lighthouse. You'll need to maneuver yourself through islands and shipwrecks, and you'll probably run into some Elites.
By beating this Stronghold, you're given access to the "Flooded Depths" dungeon and let's be real, it's quite the fun side adventure. If you're looking for an interesting Stronghold to conquer, Hope's Light should be on your list.
1 ꧅ 🍌 The Sacrificial Chamber
Situated in the town of Zarbinzet in the region of Hawezar, you must take on a quest called "To Walk A Dark Path" to find this secret room. The sacrificial, or summoning, chamber is the room that all players will see in Diablo 4's cinematic cutscenes. Specifically, it's the room where you see Elias sacrifice Symon to summon Lilith herself.
To get to this room, you'll need to do some odd little side missions that won't be too difficult but are plentiful enough to keep you busy. You will also have to navigate down a hole in the ground, to get to an underground fortress and path which leads to the room. You'll also fight some hordes of demons and a mini-boss, but by the end, you should have reached the chamber already.
There, you'll find Symon's corpse resting on one of the pillars. It will be the tell-tale sign that you are in the same room Lilith was conjured up in.
