It doesn't seem to bother Raphaël Colantonio, the game designer who directed Dishonored, the 2017 game Prey, and Dark Messiah: Might and Magic, that he's now heading a much smaller team at Wolfeye Studios. In fact, even though he's been in ౠcharge of AAA games that took hundreds of team members to put together, he's stated that his new project, the top-down supernatur🔴ally-themed , may very well the biggest project he's ever worked on.
"You'll see wha💎t we do with Weird West," Colantonio said in a chat with Hamidreza Nikoofar. "It's a huge game, it might actually be my biggest game, but it doesn't take 200 people to make."
The game, which takes place in a old wesꦗt setting populated by deadly fantastical creatures, bills itself as an immersive sim where player choices affect the outcome.
Also, if the an🍒nouncement trailer is any indication, you can become a werewolf.
So how do you outdo games like Dishonored and Prey when you've got a smaller team? To hear Colantonio talk about it,💝 the secret is to make choices regarding the gr🐽aphics that keep production from spiraling out of control.
"We make deliberat🦋e choices about the visual style, so it's very beautiful and special🥃 without taking too long for assets," Colantonio said. "So you can make the entire game with four artists."
While not too much information is available about the plot, save that there are ancient powers at war with each other and yo♎u're free to make your own choices as you're plopped into the middle of the conflict.
There's no release date information for Weird West besides the fact that it's "coming soon," but you'll be able tꦐo as soon as it's finished.
