Let's face facts: Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise Of The Skywalker 𒀰sucked, still sucks, and will likely always suck.

It's just not an enjoyable film. It actually feels devoid of joy, like everyone involved in the production was struggling to get it finished so they could be free of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Star Wars franchise forever. Thanks to how poorly Episode IX came out, it's retroactively ruined the Sequel Trilogy. It's now apparent that there was never a plan or a point for these three movies. They were simply made to make Disney more revenue from ticket sales, toys, and theme park attractions. As a result, episodes VII through IX are someho🌱w even less essential than the Prequels were, which is really saying something.

Most fans aren't thrilled with the sequels, the critics were apathetic towards them, and even the cast and crew seem happy to be done with them. So really, why even bother including them in the Star Wars canon? They offer almost nothing substantial to the fr🌠anchise. Would anyone care if we didn't see more adventures of Rey and BB-8?

That's why Disney should do what they did with all of the Star Wars novels and side projects and retcon the Sequ﷽el Trilogy.

The Dead End Of The Galaxy

Warning: Spoilers for The Rise Of The Skywalker ahead.

When you think about it, what else is there even to be done with the Sequels? The ending of The Rise Of The Skywalker pretty much wrapped it all up with a neat little bow. Rey now lives on Luke's old farm, The First Order is defeated, Kylo Ren is dead and apparently forgiven for being a genocidal jerk, pretty much all of the original characters have died or moved on, etc. The Skywalker Saga is completed, so unless we want to watch Rey raise space llamas or see Poe and Finn continue to deny their love for each other it's a dead end. You could trot out another evil empire for everyone to fight, but Star Wars could probably stand to take a long break f𒆙rom that cliched narrative crutc♛h.

Not only is the story finished but the actors and directors are as well. Oscar Issac and John Boyega have been vocal about having no interest in further adventures in a galaxy far, far away. Considering the poor reaction to Episode IX, it'd be hard to see why Daisy Ridley or J. J. Abrams would want to return ei💃ther. And it goes without saying that if Rian Johnson came back the internet would probably explode with fanboy rage▨ so that ain't happening.

The Rise Of The Skywalker was supposed to be a triumphant exclamation point to three generations of Stars Wars movies. Instead, it was like a poorly scribbled question mark that left viewers saying "that's it? That's the end?" It's not how this multi-decade saga should have c꧑oncluded. So, if some changes were made and some plot points were altered or outright removed, would anyone truly care?

Well, possibly, since this is Star Wars and fans freak out if Chewbacca's eyelashes look✃ a little off. But in the grand scheme of things, it wouldn't matter.

If The Sequels Vanished, Would Anyone Care?

Even among the most hardcore Star Wars fans, the Sequel Trilogy is met with a෴ resounding "meh." Meanwhile, the Prequels inspire a whole host of emotions ranging from indignant anger to a strange kind of acceptance about their place in the canon. While you could go on and on ꦯabout how horrible they are, they did feature some moments that many remember fondly. From podracing to the Duel Of The Fates fight to the tale of Darth Plagueis The Wise, there are many iconic scenes that fans have latched onto and hold dearly.

The Prequels and The Original Trilogy feel like full-fledged Star Wars movies. They're more fun to play with when it comes to telling new stories. That's why we're gotten projects like The Mandalorian and the Clone Wars animated series. The Sequels, however, feel empty and hollow. It's impossible to not see them as products that were corporately mandated from Disney. With so little passion put in, why would we want to continue to hang around those 🌠characters?

This can be best seen in the world of video games. When Battlefront 2 holds a Prequel or Clone Wars-themed event the entire fanbase goes wild. Yet, when the opportunity to play as Rey or Ky♉lo pops up there's barely a hint of excitement. They just didn't leave a mark on the franchise. And if they didn't leave much of an impression, then there's no more money to be milked from them. A retcon would provide Disney with a new opportunity to profit from the Sequels and that alone should be enough of a reason for them to consider a do-over.

The Retcon Of The Skywalker

As crazy as it sounds, retconning the sequels would be best for Star Wars. It could be a full retcon, which mea✅ns outright dumping the three movies and pretending like that whole mess never happened. That does seem a little crazy, as even though they may not be that popular they still made billions of dollars. But heading in a different direction with Ben Solo or showing how things work in a post-Empire universe could be fascinating or more interesting than yet another empire vs rebels plot.

If we want to keep the characters and the storyline intact, then maybe the solution is as simple as ignoring the entirety of The Rise Of The Skywalker. It's not like it would be missed and nearly every Star Wars aficionado has come up with a better movie in their heads. We'd love to see someone else come up with an alternative ending to the Sequel Trilogy. Perhaps one that ties the history of the series together and concludes with an ending that manages🦹 to be both satisfying and rewarding. At the very least maybe Rose could be an actual character again instead of being relegated to the background because some people on social media threw a hissy fit.

Almost Anything Would Be Better

via Hollywood Reporter

We don't know what a retcon of the Sequels would look like but we would be more than willing to give it a chance. So many characters would be better served by a retelling of the events. It could give fans a reason to cheer for Rey or feel sympathy for Kylo Ren. Or maybe it could make Poe seem like less of a dumbass. It could make the Sequel Trilogy feel essential to the legacy of Star Wars, instead of b♌eing the sad footnote at the end that it currently is.

Besides, fans would probably be behind it too given their disappointed reaction to these films. Hell, Game Of Thrones fans are still begging for a better version of Season 8, so it's plausible that a retcon of the Sequel Trilogy would be accepted with openಞ arms.
