Look, we want everyone to be in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. We want Dante. We want Master Chief. We want the entire cast of Suikoden II. You name them, we want them. But as much as the crossover characters delight and surprise us, it’s worth remembering that Smash was originally a place for Nintendo characters to gather together to beat each other half𒊎 to death with baseball bats and then throw one another off a ledge. Those were the golden days.
At this point, just about every Nintendo mascot from Mario to Link to even Mr. Game & Watch are all present and accounted for in Ultimate. This of course also includes one of the OG Nintendo characters, Donkey Kong, along with his Country cohorts Diddy Kong and King K. Rool. However, this doesn’t feel like enough representation for one of the greatest platforming game series to ever exist. Sure DK deserves his spot, and Diddy and K. Rool are fine additions as well, but there’s one character whose absence seems like a glaring omission from the Smash roster.
Where is the heck is Dixie?
The Kong Credentials
Dixie Kong was introduced in 1995’s Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest (not Diddy Kong’s Quest because that title isn’t a pun) and she’s been kicking Kremlin butt and saving DK ever since. That means she’s been rocking that insane helicopter ponytail for nearly 25 years, yet she somehow hasn’t been deemed worthy enough to receive one of those coveted stamped Smash envelopes.
The 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Donkey Kong Country series is perhaps one of the most perfect gaming series ever created (yes, even counting Donkey Kong 64’s collect-a-thon.) The first three games for the Super Nintendo are some of the greatest platformers ever made, and the recent games from Retro S𓆏tudios are nearly as good as the originals. But even though Donkey Kong’s name is right there in the title, he was actually a pretty small presence in the oriღginal trilogy. In fact, he spends the majority of those games kidnapped and in need of rescue. And you know who was there to save him both times? You’re damn right it was Dixie.
Dixie Kong has proven herself to be a more than capable hero, perhaps even much more capable th🎐an Donkey is. Hell, even Diddy gets captured in the third Donkey Kong Country game. So what did Dixie do then? She went off to rescue them both with the help of her cousin Kiddy who’s a literal baby. Dixie not only saved the two supposed heroes of the series, she essentialℱly did it while simultaneously baby-sitting. How has she not been put in the game?!
If You Choose Her, You'll Not Choose Wrong
She looks cool, she acts cool, she🍒’s a💮 total badass, and oh yeah, she plays the friggin’ electric guitar like a boss.
So what gives? Obviously the big draw for Smash right now are DLC fighters from other companies. For many fans, another Nintendo character would be a disappointment. But you know what? Donkey Kong Country only has three representatives in Smash, and Dixie deserves a spot as much as King K. Rool does. She was the co-star of the best game in the entire series, and let’s face it, everyone always preferred playing as her instead of Diddy in Donkey Kong Country 2. What did Diddy have? A cartwheel jum📖p? Dixie could pick up barrels and fly with her hair. Enough said.
The fact Dixie has been denied a Smash spot for this long is a complete travesty. People are always campaigning for Waluigi or Geno as some of the most overlooked Nintendo characters, but a better case could be made for Dixie as she at least got to be the star of her own game (even if it was confusingly named after the person who was kidnapped.) If 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Fire Emblem can have eight places on Ultimate’s roster, then there’s no reason that the Donkey Kong Country series can’t have one more.
Oh mighty Sakurai, in your infinite wisdom, look into your heart and bring the best character in the entire Donkey Kong extended universe into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Because as muc🥂h as people want Dante or Doomguy, Dixie is the D-name that f꧅ans should be demanding.
