With how vain the 10th Doctor is - so desperate to cling onto his incarnati🗹on that he spawned a clone to keep his face and personality - you can imagine him with the ticking time bomb of mortality. Jealous of themselves, eager to become a Time Lord again, and born of genocide, this is a character that could rival the Doctor in a way even the Master doesn’t.
The Doctor was stranded on Earth during his third incarnation, forced into exile by the Time Lor🃏ds. He kept up his adventures by helping Unit but the frustration was felt, so much so that he became a whole new person when he began travelling amidst the stars again. We didn’t see them close to snapping in a villainous way, just as we didn’t with the 11th when he was stranded, but Ten was far crueller, far more egotistical, and believed himself to be a near-God who had the right to bend the universe’s rules. So while we never saw Ten lost in such a way, if we did, he’d be far less kind than his other-selves.
So it makes sense that his potential return as a foil to the 14th Doctor would make him a believable villain. Just look at The Monk, a meddler that likes to help humanity more directly and precisely than the Doctor, or the Rani, a character who represents the same scientific mind, but one with less moral limits than the Doctor. However, things get really interesting when the Doctor is pitted against themselܫves.
Just look at the Dream Lord. Their darkest, deepes🧸t desires unravelled and played against them like a twisted mirror, reflecting who the Doctor really is and why the universe should be t☂hankful that they reign it in. It only makes their heroism all the more commanding. Tennant is one of the best actors working today and could encapsulate all of that to a tee, so it’d be criminal to waste that potential.
