As one of the longest-running science-fiction television shows of all time, it's fair to say that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Doctor Who has quite a following. From its humble begin๊nings in 1969 to a multi-media fandom today, fans of the franchise follow the show on TV, read the books, create some amazing content and yes - play the games.
After the acclaim of the first game in the series, The Edge of Time, developers Maze Theory Studios is🃏 bringing 𝕴out a sequel in 2021 entitled The Edge of Reality. Following on from the story of the last one, The Edge of Reality has promised to be an "ep💖ic" team-up with lots of cameos and a cross-platform release. But what do we know about the game so🌊 far?
10 It’✱s A Sequel To 'The Edge Of Time'
The starts off with a voice-over from current Doctor Jodie Whittaker saying that "a million years from now, reality itself was almost destroyed". People who have played The Edge of Time might be justified in feeling just a little bit of pride right about now; because they're the ones who saved it! The player, of course, is the "hero" that the ꦆDoctor proudly tells us about. The Edge of Reality takes off where the first game left you.
In the first game, the Doctor rescues you from a laundromat full of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:new aliens called Hydrorks, narrowly ꦜavoiding a sh🦹ip of Daleks in the process. What follows is a tale that takes you from Earth, to a spaceship, to an alien planet in an attempt to stop the destruction of the entire universe. Successfully, thankfully!
9 🐻 This One Isn't A VR Game
One big grab of the 2019 release of The Edge of Time was that it utilized the PS4 and Occulus Quests' VR technဣology to allow the player to wield tools such as the sonic screwdriver and really feel like the part of an adventure straight out of the television show. In 2020 it was also ܫreleased for Occulus Rift.
Where the two games really differ is that - for better or worse - The Edge of Reality is not going to be a VR game. Though f♚ans may be disappointed by the downgrade, this is to allow the developers to release it on a wider range of platforms.
8 🌌 𓂃 Players Should Expect More Puzzles And A Longer Story
There's been a definite uptick in recent years of adventure games containing a good number of puzzles, including 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dragon Age Inquisition and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:God of War 4. After the success of both in 🐼The Edge of Time, The Edge of Reality has promised more 🐼puzzles and a longer story.
It remains to be seen how the puzzles will come into play without the VR elements. Will they be as touchy-feely, or more mind-based? But it's very exciting ღto hear the developers are continuing what made the last game so fun, and it's very difficult to have too much of a good thing. With a longer narrative, we can expect a lot more storytelling too.
7 It’s🍌 Not The First Team-Up Of Two Doctors
If yo💧u've not yet seen the trailer for The Edge of Reality, be sure to keep watching after the title screen pops up for a little teaser! Although he hasn't been the Doctor for ten years now, David Tennant will be returning once again as the 10th Doctor in 𒁃the game alongside his future self number 13! How's that for wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff?
We don't yet know h✤ow the team-up will work - or if the two Doctors will meet - but there were some hints in the original game. The Time Lord Victorious DLC had players visit the 10th and 9th Doctors'🤡 TARDISes to find collectibles.
6 🐠 It Features𓂃 The Original Voice Actors
Fans of the television series and Big Finish audio delights will be pleased to﷽ hear that like it's prequel, The Edge of Reality will have a lot of the original Doctor Who voice actors. Jodie Whittaker and David Tennant will be voicing their respective Doctors, and it's safe to say that Nick Briggs - the famous voice of the Daleks - will reprise his role once again.
The DLC for The Edge of Time also included voice cameos from other previous Doctors and companions including Donna Noble (Catherine Tate), the 5th Doctor (Peter Davison) and classic Time Lord, Borusa (Philip Latham)✃. Since these clips were lifted from archived footage, we might get more surprises in this story, too!
5 We'll See The Return Of Some Classic Monsters ⛦
Any Doctor Who story isn't complete without its monsters, and this game is expected to be chocked full of them! We get some cheeky sneak peeks at the Daleks, Cybermen and Weeping Angels in the tr🔥ailer (some of the more famous creatures the franchise has to offer) and we're likely to see the🃏 return of the species from the previous game.
The developers have also hinted that they'll be bringing more aliꦺens and enemies to the fight this time, but we can only guess who that'll be. Some good old Sontarans? Nimons? Judoons?
4 This Time, The Whole Universeꦫ Is In Danger
Just in case you thought "of all of reality" wasn't high enough stakes; as the says, "welcome to the chaosverse"! The entire universe is in danger this time, and it sounds like we'll be doing an awful lot of running around to make sure that it doesn't fall apart. But with a whole TARDIS at your disposal - and in fact, with 𒈔two Doctors, we might even have two of them - there really ⛦is no limit to how far we can go. Time and relative dimensions in space, and all. Are you up for the challenge?
3 There's Going To Be Lots Of Easter Eggs 🃏 🐈
From Lego Dimensions to GI Joe, Doctor Who cameos and Easter Eggs are all the rage with the success of show's reboot back in 2005. (168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Easter Eggs in general, really!) Fans are excited to see what sort we'll get in The Edge of Reality after teasing fro💜m the developers.
In mid November, t𝐆he Time Lord Victorious DLC for The Edge of Time saw the addition of a number of new items including the Black Scrolls of Rassilon, the file of a UNIT soldier, a Dalek gun, an Ood translation spher🌼e and more; plenty for fans of the show from 1963 or 2005 alike. Hopefully the fare will be just as good in 2021.
2 ཧ It’s Been Confirmed For Multiple Platfor🗹ms
Since The Edge of Reality will not be a VR game like its prequel, Maze Theory Studios will be able to introduce their creation to a wider audience. This time around the game will be released on PC, PS4, Xbox One and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:perhaps most excitedly,ꦺ🍎 Nintendo Switch; making it the first Doctor Who game on the handheld console (along with The Lonely Assassin). However, it isn't certain what people will be missing from the💟 experience if they w♛ere unable to play The Edge of Time.
1 🔯 It May Be Relateꦜd To Upcoming Mobile Game “Lonely Assassins”
Althꦍough not confirmed, there have been some hints that the mobile game The Lonely Assassin - also slated for a 2021 release - will also be tied to the story of The Edge of Time and the Edge of Reality. Just like The Edge of Time began in a laundromat, so does The Lonely Assassin; only this time, you'll be working with a different set of characte♛rs.
From Kaigen Games, an award-winning studio in Malaysia 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:known for their found phone format, this new game seems to be 🌳heavily inspired by the renowned Doctor Who episode "Blink". It will also see playe🐲rs teaming in real-time with fan favorite from the 50th Anniversary, Petronella Osgood. It is coming out on iOS, Android and Nintendo Switch.
