Not all of these changes are for the best, however. While some of Doom Eternal's demons have been given upgrades and improvements, others have been made a little bit less interesting than their 2016 counterparts. Here, we take a look at five demons that improved in Doom Eternal - and five that got worse.

10 ꧅ Worse: Cueball

The Cueball is the new version of the Possessed Engineer from the last Doom game. Like the Possessed Engineer,♐ it has some flammable red tanks in its body, which explode on impact. Unlike the Engineer, it can't move or attack the player.

This is a small change, but it is noticeable and doesn't make a ton of sense. For a 𝓀fast-paced game to have an enemy that not only stays put but also doesn't even make an effort to kill the player feels a little off, especially given how the Engineer did both those 💫things.

9 Improved: Lost Soul ༺

Lost Souls from Doom 2016 were a bit of a pain to deal with. If you didn't spot them in time, they exploded on contact, dealing significant damage. Lost Souls in Doom Eternal, however, have changed a bit for the better.

These Lost Souls still function much the same, but they can also be diverted using the Combat Shotgun, which will send them flying in the opposite dire🍨ction. The Ice Bomb is also effective at dealing with swarms of them, making them much more interesting enemies to handle.

8 ꦍ Worse: Possessed Security ও

The Possessed Soldiers and Possessed Security of Doom have been replaced with regular Soldiers both with and without shields in Doom Eternal. While the regular Soldiers function effectively the same, the shielded foes can be a bit disappoi♓nting.

While the previous title required players to come up with innovative solutions, such as using their superior agility to flank shielded enemies, Doom Eternal just asks you to switch to a plasma weapon and blast away. That's all you need to do to make♏ their shield explode, which can ⛦feel a bit underwhelming.

7 ꦍ I🍎mproved: Imp

Imps are basically the same in Doom Eternal as they were in Doom 2016. However, they also have a new, upgraded form called the Gargoyle, which is capable of f🥃light over short distances, leading 🌱to more interesting combat encounters.

Gargoyles behave much like Imps, but their enhanced agility brings a new twist to an old foe. They can be difficult to pin down, though their aerial abilities can be used against them as shootin🌺g them mid-air will stun them, allowing for a wider range of strategies against them.

6 Worse: Cacodemon 🐟

The Cacodemons in Doom Eternal share many features with their predecessors, such as their gaping maws and rows of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:terrifying teeth. However, they're also much easier to t💛ake down as lobbing a single explosive into their mouths will instantly stagger them, allowing for a laughably simple Glory Kill.

This makes encounters with Cacodemons feel a bit too binary, as you're liable to just lob a grenade in their mouths. It's not the best for a gam🐟e that is built around asking players to make quick decisio🍎ns to have an enemy that most will begin to take down without any thought.

5 ▨ Improved: Pain Elemental

While Cacodemons may be underwhelming, their upgraded Pain Elemental form is much more intimidating. These floating tanks can spew out much more deಞvastating attacks and can also spawn Lost Souls to attack the player, making them a high prio💙rity target.

On top of that, Pain Elementals have massive health pools, giving them the resilience of a mini-boss. While their attacks are slower an♉d less f♚requent than other enemies, making them less of an immediate threat than other, faster foes, their power means that they are not to be trifled with.

4 Worse: Revenant 🦩

The Revenant is another enemy that didn't change much from its incarnation in Doom 2016. However, it did change a bit for the worse, as now its ꦛrocket pack is a weak point that c🎃an be destroyed to significantly weaken the demon.

Taking out the Revenant's rockets makes it effectively a fodder demon, capable of only dealing melee attacks. Contrast this to the constant barrage of damage Revenants from the prior game could unleash on ,ဣ and it's clear that these monsters have received a significant downgrade in their destr💯uctive capabilities.

3 ꦐ Imp💃roved: Hell Knight

While regular Hell Knights have remained pretty much the same between the two games, they also picked up an upgraded form in the Dread Knights. These demons are equipped with two arm mounted energy blades and have a variety of n✤ew attacks.

While Hell Knights are largely limited to simply running up the player and attacking, the Dread Knig🐈ht have mo𒆙re options. They can send blasts of Hell energy at the player from afar, and can also coat their surroundings with the same damaging power. This makes them a much more powerful threat than in the first game.

2 ♍ Worse: Cyb♕er-Mancubus

In the previous Doom title, the Cyber-Mancubus had a wider arsenal than the regular Mancubus. It was capable of unleashing more varied attacks, and that made it a bigger threat. That is not the case in Doom Eternal.

Here, the Cyber-Mancubus is just a tougher version of the Mancubus, with weapons that can't be disabled. While this does make for a more difficult fight, it's not nearly as interesting as adding new abilities or new sources of damage. The🧸refore, the Cyber-Mancubus just isn't as engaging of a design as in the last game.

1 ✃ ꧂ Improved: Fireborne Baron

Finally, our pick for the most improved demon is the Fireborne Baron. Essentially a Baron of 𝓀Hell on steroids, t🍰hese beasts hit harder, can take more punishment, and have enough health to take even a blast from the BFG without dying instantly.

The previous Baron of Hell, like most enemies, died immediately to the BFG. Therefore, the Fireborne Baron is absolutely more powerful, and that allows it to be more aggressive in its attacks. These beasts are some of the most dangerous enemies in the game, and our pick for the most improved demon from Doom 2016.
