Dorfromantik is a peaceful indie game where you place tiles to build cities, farms, rivers, and more! The calming music pr𓆏ovides a wonderful backdrop as you wonder where the best place is to put a new train track or forest.
The graphics are pretty stunning, too. The clean, simple look leaves plenty to your imagination, and you might find yourself thinking that the local farmers will enjoy a little pond nearby, or the busy city-folk might like a few trees to brighten up the view. If you find yourself wanting to add a personal touch or a pop of color to the map, you just need to unlock some of the game's biomes.
Every Type Of Biome
There are seven biomes you can unlock and build up within Dorfromantik:
- Standard
- Lavender
- Fjord
- Blossom
- Enchanted
- Midwinter
- Sakura (exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version of the game)
Each th🎐eme will change the palette of the game to fit its theme and has a un🍎ique background color.
How To Unlock Biomes
You unlock new biomes in Dorfromantik by completing the Landscaper Challenges in the game.
Challenges can be viewed in the main menu under the heading 'Rewards.' There, you can check your progress in the Landscaper Challenge! Each time you complete a tier of this Challenge, you'll earn a new Biome.

How To Choose The Biome(s) You Want
You may not have realized that you can determine which biomes appear in-game in any game mode, not just creative mode!
To do this, go to the main menu and click on the little flower icon in the bottom row. This will take you to a list of all the biomes that you've unlocked where you can toggle whether or not any biome will appear. You can choose your favorite and play with just that one, or just deselect the ones you really hate.
