Dr. Mario World continues to infantilize the characters in the Super Mario Bros. franchise, as the nex꧒t addition to the game will be Dr. Baby Wario.
Yoshi's Island introduced Baby Mario to the series, as Yoshi and his pals had to protect the infant from capture throughout the game. This opened the floodgates, and baby versions of other Super Mario Bros. characters were created over time. All of this led to the creation of the greatest Mario Kart track of all time, in the form of Baby Park, and the baby characters have appeared in numerous Mario games since.
Baby Wario debuted as an assist character in Yoshi's Island DS, where he could use his coin magnet to grab loose gold around the stage. Yoshi's Island DS was released in 2006, which gave Baby Wario plenty of time to earn his doctorate, as he will be a playable character in Dr. Mario World when he's added to the game on June 26. The addition of Dr. Baby Wario was announced on the official Twitter page.
A new set of stages based on an amusement park will also be added alongside Dr. Baby Wario. The game will undergo maintenance from June 25, 6 PM PT to June 2ꦬ6, 3 AM PT.
Dr. Mario World keeps scraping the bottom of the barrel for new characters to add to the game, with recent additions including a dolphin in a coat, three Goombas in a coat, undead monsters, and Donkey Kong. At some point, the game is going to run out of characters and will have to go the Mario Kart Tour route of using seasonal versions of characters. There are only so many baby/power-up/undead versions of Mario characters you can use before the well runs dry. The fact that the developers brought back Baby Wario after a fourteen absence just goes to show how deep into the Super Mario Bros. canon that they're willing to go.
Dr. Baby Wario is coming to Dr. Mario World on June 26.
