Ghouls are grim. The effects of R✃ed🍒 Lyrium are grim. So what better Dragon Age staples to combine this Halloween?
The latest bit of concept art for the long-awaited Dragon Age 4 comes courtesy of BioWare's Christian Dailey, and hints that Tevinter will be full of some pretty horrific beings. These ghouls are not only shown to be in a severe state of decay, but also have glowing eyes, hinting at red lyrium abuse. This also reveals why 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Grey 𒅌Wardens will be knocking around, suggesting that they will play 𓄧a significant role in the story.
Ghouls have appeared in the series since Dragon Age: Origins, and are living creatures who suffer from darkspawn taint. From what we've seen in the games already, ghouls can vary in terms of severity, with the ones we meet in the Deep Roads still able to - somewhat - hold a conversation. However, much like zombies, they quickly rot away, turning violent before their death.
Red lyrium isn't much cheerier. This addictive substance grants the user new powers and improved strength, but comes at the cost of damaging their body and mind. Most notably, Meredith was using it during the events of Dragon Age 2. Sure, it made her a lot harder to take down as a final boss, but it also made her extremely paranoid, and eventually left her petrified. The so-called Red Templars we see in Inquisition don't fare much better, left so damaged that they attack on sight.
With these two terrifying forms of corruption combined, Dragon Age 4 is shaping up to be absolutely terrifying. But it does explain why we saw the Grey Wardens in previous concept art, as super-powered darkspawn is exactly the sort of thing they'd be sent in to deal with. This doesn't necessarily mean we'll be facing another blight in the sequel, but it sure as hell confirms that the wardens are in for another wild, very deadly ride after already preventing one apocalypse.
Dragon Age 4 has no confirmed release date, but is rumoured to be 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:aiming for a 2023 launch.
