Blood Magic has been a part of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dragon Age universe since the very beginning. It's used to justify the existence of one of the primary antagonists of the games: the Darkspawn. Supposedly, Tevinter mages tried to enter the Golde✨n City in the Fade (the seat of the Maker) and were cast out for their hubris, becoming the first in a long line of hideous Darkspawn monsters.

This disturbing discipline has been involved somehꩲow in nearly every major plotline but, as a taboo work of magic, fans are occasionally fuzzy on the details. Here are a few things about blood magic that you may not have caught during the games or novels.

10 Blood Mages' Relationship With The Fade 🌠

Blood magic is the only form of magic in Dragon Age that doesn't require the user to access the Fade. Some mages may touch the Fade whenꦑ they are casting a spell, or call on spirits or demons for their work, but the power can be used entirely in the physical world, if they so choose. In Dragon Age: Inquisition, Solas even confirms that blood mages have a more difficult time entering the Fade than other mages since they're less familiar with accessing it.

9 ꦯ The First Person T𒈔o Use It

The first recorded case of blood magic being used was by a man named Thalsian. He was a Tevinter Dreamer (someone who can enter the Fade at will, without lyrium or blood magic) and claimed that he learned how to do it by speaking with the Tevinter Old God, Dumat. Since most of Tevinter doesn't worship the Old Gods anymore, having created their own version of the Chantry, con🔯temporary mages argue that Thalsian probably learned it from communicating with ancient elves. Neither theory has much evidence to support it.

8 Blood Magic Was Used To Trap Co⛎rypheus

Dragon Age 2 Corypheus

actually appeared first in a DLC for Dragon Ageﷺ 2. Some fans were able to play that content, while others simply heard the gist and were 𒈔satisfied. Knowledge of the DLC adds a little background to where Corypheus has been all these years but isn't necessary to understand Inquisition.

Those who haven't played it won't realize that Corpheus was actually being trapped with blood magic. The Grey Wardens had forced Hawke's father, Malcolm, to use blood magic and strengthen the b🐎inds on Corypheus — something that Hawke makes entirely irrelevant w♍hen they show up and set Corypheus free.

7 💖 The Only Free Magic

The moral and ethical ramifไications of blood magic are a controversial topic in Thedas. Some argue that it is inherently corrupting for mages, while others insist that the forb💖idden nature of blood magic (and the fact that mages are never properly schooled in how to use it correctly) are what causes corruption in blood mages, not the actual magic itself. Those who might argue that blood magic can be used ethically do have at least one irrefutable point: blood magic is physical, not tied to accepting favors from or relying on spirits or demons.

6 𓆉 🌼 The Joining Is Blood Magic

Dragon Age Origins Duncan, Alistair, and Armoured Man Attending The Joining

There's only one publically acceptable use of blood magic in Thedas — the Joining. The Joining is a ritual every Grey Warden goes through in which they must drink Darkspawn blood. If they die, they are buried with honor. If they survive, they become a permanent member of the Grey Wardens, forever haunted by their taint. The reason that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Grey Wardens recruit so many mages is that their help is required to prepare this ritual. Theoretically, they could use any mage, but a Grey Warden mage would be sworn not to reveal the 🎉secrets of ✨the Joining to anyone.

5 ꦦ One Of The Only Ways To Cure The Taint

Dragon Age Split Image - Two Women With the Taint

The taint is the corruption that Darkspawn can spread to living victims which (usually) ultimately k🌳✅ills them. In Dragon Age 2, Merrill is considered foolish for trying to purify a tainted Eluvian with blood magic — but she was actually on the right track.

Blood magic is one of the only known ways that the taint can be cured. The earliest known example of this is when a🍬 Grey Warden mage, named Isseya, was able to use blood magic to purify the last existing griffon eggs and draw the taint into herself — which, as a Grey Warden, she could survive.

4 Dorian Pavus, the Blood Mage𝓡

If the player gets to know Dorian Pavus over the course of Inquisition, they'll learn how wary he is of blood magic. As a young man, Dorian's father tried to change him by using blood magic. Later, his master Alexius turned to blood magic, and the pursuit corrupted him. Despite all this, Dorian actually practices a form of🉐 blood magic — necromancy. This art is slightly more accepted than the usual kind of blood magic in Thedas (though often considered disturbing), but it is blood mag✤ic nonetheless, as . If , the ramifications may be significant.

3 Why The Inquisitor Can't Use It ജ

Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 both allow the protagonist to choose🔯 to specialize in blood magic. So, when Dragon Age: Inquisition was released and a blood magic skill tree was missing, players wondered why.

In an interview, David Gaider explained that had the Inquisitor been a blood mage, a lot of other characters in the universe would have had opinions about it, inside and outside the Inquisition. He said that 🍷it would have been detrimental to the content of the game, which is totally reasonable  as it would be hard to build up a giant organization around a leader who was a known blood mage. Of course, necromancy is still an option, and (as with Dorian) that is also a type of blood magic. S💃o they found a small loophole in this problem.

2 🃏 More Violent = More Powerful

When using blood magic, the more violent that a death or blood sacrifice is, the more powerful the magic will become. This was most famously taken advantage of when Tevinter mages slaughtered "countless" slaves in an attempt to enter the fade physically. The Chantry loves to call back to this inf🌜ormation whenever possible, arguing that this fact will tempt any mage who even dabbles in blood magic to commit horrific acts in order to obtain more power.

1 🍰 ✃ Blood Magic As Its Own School

There are many different schools of magic, including fade magic, healing magic, force magic, blight magic, arcane magic, and more. At first, it was thought that blood magic wasn't its own school, but simply a way to make spells from other schools more powerful. This only changed once magisters discovered spells that only used blood magic, like "Hemorrhage" (a blood magic spell from Dragon Age 2). Exploring it as its own school led to i𒉰nteresting (and horrifying) discoveries, including the ability to take control of others' actions.
