For years, players have been anxiously waiting for the release of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dragon Age 4. The previous game, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dragon Age: Inquisition, ended on a cliffhanger. While it was partially resolved in a DLC - Trespasser - fans are still left with tons of questions about the fate of Thedas and the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dragon Age franchise as a whole. A lot of information is dumped on players during the Trespasser DLC. Only peo💖ple with perfect memories could have come out of that experience with a solid understanding of what was going on. Solas' motivations and plans are by far the most obscure - and the most interesting - of these subjects. In this guide, we review all the relevant information you need to understand why Solas is doing what he's doing.
How Solas Created The Veil And Why He Regrets It
As you may know, the Veil is the invisible barrier separating the physical world from the spiritual, immaterial world (168澳洲幸运5开奖网:better known as 'the Fade').
Centuries ago, the Veil did not exist. Elves covered Thedas and lived in harmony with the spirits and magic around them. They never aged and could all perform magic. However, everything wasn't sunshine and rainbows. The elves were ruled by a few well-respected generals who, over time, became mad with power and greed. These generals came to be hailed as gods and were known collectively as 'the Eva𝓰nurꦛis.' Only one Evanuris actually cared for the elves: Mythal.
When rebellion finally broke out against the Evanuris, the elves were led by a friend of Mythal's: Solas. He became known as Fen'Harel (meaning 'the Dread Wolf' in the common tongue). Solas led the rebellion well, breaking many elves out of slavery, removing the brands placed on them by the Evanuris, and creating a safe place for his followers to hide. However, over time, Solas came to believe their cause was impossible - they wouldn't be able to kill the Evanuris.
So, he did the next best thing that he could think of. From his castle (Skyhold), Solas began a long magical ritual that created the Veil. The elves remained in the physical world except for the Evanuris, who were locked behind the Veil in the Fade. The rebellion had won.
Unfortunately, creating the Veil had extreme consequences that Solas couldn't have predicted. Most elves were cut off from the Fade entirely, losing the ability to use magic and causing them to age. Many elves were killed when magical places that had been created were suddenly destroyed and the knowledge there was lost. And Solas, who had used so much of his power to create it, was knocked unconscious.
How Solas Caused Dragon Age: Inquisition
⛄After creating the Veil, Sol𒈔as fell into a deep sleep that lasted for centuries.
When he awoke, he was horrified by the world he had created. Elves, whether Dalish or City, were second-class citizens to humans. They had no cohesive culture of their own and had lost their connection to the Fade (and, by extension, magic). Solas decided that it was his fault that the elven race had become this way, and vowed to undo his work. He set about gathering e🐟lven agents and building up a network, as he had had during the ancient rebellion. When he heard about Corypheus, he decided to do something drastic.
In the days of the ancient elves, the Evanuris had used objects, called foci, to harness their incredible magical abilities. Solas had one of these objects as well - the Orb of Fen'Harel. Solas still had the Orb when he first awoke, but its power was dormant after so many years unused. After waking from his sleep, Solas only had access to a fraction of his usual power and was too weak to reactivate or 'unlock' the Orb himself. He intentionally left the Orb where the Venatori and Corypheus would find it, in the hope that Corypheus would be able to unlock it. Solas thought that Corypheus would die in the explosion of 𝕴power caused when the Orb unlocked. However, he had no idea that Corypheus had worked out a way to in🐠habit new bodies and effectively never die.
When the plan didn't go as expected and he heard that someone (the Inquisitor) had come in contact with the Orb, he offered his aid, posing as an elven apostate. Because the Orb was his foci, only he could use it without eventually dying. It also meant he was the only one who could have stabilized the Mark on the Inquisitor's hand. He planned to help the Inquisition stop Corypheus, reclaim his Orb, and continue with his plan. However, at the end of Dragon Age: Inquisition, the Orb is shattered.
Solas left the Inquisition without an explanation and reconvened with the only Evanuris who remained in the physical world: Mythal (whose spirit lived on in the body of Flemeth). They embrace, and Solas petrifies Flemeth's body, taking Mythal's power into himself.
What Solas Is Doing Now And Why
The main takeaway is this: Solas intends to destroy the Veil. This would cause unimaginable repercussions and chaos among Thedas' inhabitants as the spirit world would suddenly descend on the physical world and all elves would regain their power to perform magic. Solas would use the chaos to restore the world he remembers, th🐠ough with fewer dictators pretending to be gods.
From books and comics released since Trespasser came out, we know that Solas is hard at work and his agents are everywhere. We also know that he has been trying to obtain the Lyrium Idol that featured in Dragon Age 2, which drove the final antagonist, Meredith, insane. However, he has not successfully obtained it yet. From the stories that certain characters tell, it sounds as though Solas has already started the magical ritual that will tear down the veil. However, the ritual needs the Lyrium Idol (💛for 🃏an unknown reason).
It's possible that Solas' actions sin♈ce his Orb was destroyed (consuming Mythal's power and looking for the Lyrium Idol) have just been attempts to gather enough power to fuel his spell in place of his Orb, but this is unconfirmed at the time of this writing.
Solas has appeared in the promotional material for the next Dragon Age game, which seems to have the working title of Dragon Age: The Dread Wolf Rises.
- In the 2018 Game Awards teaser trailer, Solas says: "So, you have found me at last. I suspect you have questions."
- In the 2020 Behind the Scenes trailer, Solas says: "They call me the Dread Wolf. What will they call you when this is over?"
To discover whether Solas is successful in tearing down the Veil, we'll have to wait for Dragon Age 4.
