However, as you'll also recall, Grey Wardens go through a Joining that severely limits their lifespan. In Origins, you're told that after the Joining, you can expect to live another 30 years, but no longer than that. Other sources say that you have even less time than that. So, with our player characters from Origins having been Wardens for 22 years now, they're getting to a point where they could be living on borrowed time.

What Other Grey Wardens Are At Risk?

A blonde man in knight's armour sits by a campfire in Dragon Age Origins

It isn't just the Hero of Ferelden we have to be worried about. Here are just some of the potential Wardens that could have gone through a Joining within a few years of each other, putting their lives at risk too:

  • Alistair
  • Anders
  • Oghren
  • Nathaniel
  • Velanna
  • Sigrun
  • Loghain
  • Bethany or Carver

Of course, every single one of these characters can be 𒊎killed off separately too. There are loads of different possibilities for where💧 they are now and a lot to account for after such a huge time jump, so it will be interesting to see if The Veilguard decides to address this or avoids mentioning them wherever possible.

There are other things to consider with this 22-year jump too. For starters, Morrigan's son, Kieran, will be an adult now. Whoever became the king or queen of Ferelden will also be well into their rule, and if they haven't had a child, that could spark concerns for the succession. Somewhat similarly, the new Divine would have been in place for a good few years, so whatever changes they wanted to make could have already been implemented.

We'll have to wait and see how many of these questions The Veilguard is able to answer. But in the meantime, confirmation of this timeline has given us a lot to think about.
