Just a few weeks ago, I went hands-on with the first part of Dragon Ball ✅Z: Kakarot’s long-awaited Daima DLC and found what I played to be one of the most interesting expansions the game has seen. By taking us to a whole new world that’s free of flight and letting us play as a Power Pole preferring mini Goku with moves and vibes reminiscent of OG , Daima’s DLC was setting itself up 💯to be my new favourite over End of Z.

My preview of the Daima expansion wrapped up just before one of the show’s first major fights, which sees Goku going up against Tamagami Number Three, reaching Super Saiyan 2, and getting the first Demon Realm Dragon Ball. I figured that was a great stopping point for a first look and probably meant that I had at least a𒁏 few more major moments to get through. I even said, “I just hope the full scope of the Demon Reꦿalm is as exciting in the full🔴 DLC as it was in the opening hours”.

I Thought I Was Done With Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, But The Daima DLC Pr🏅oves How Much More It Has To Offer

The opening hours🔯 of Adventure Through The Demon Realm are a surprisingly unique take on Kakarot’s formula.

Oh, how naive I was. As it turns out, Goku’s big two-part battle against the Tamagami is also the final fight of the four-hour expansion, leaving a frankly wild amount of content and climactic moments for next year’s Part 2 to cover. It’s a shame, too, because what’s here is a unique twist on Kakarot’s already solid formula that had me locked in and excited to see more. It’s just a shame ☂I’d already seen most of it.

A Small, But Well-Executed Slice Of Daima

If you didn’t check o📖ut my preview of Adventure Through the Demon Realm Part 1, I’ll give you a quick rundown of what it⛄’s all about. The DLC, which is based on the first half of Daima (just about), lets you play as a miniaturised Goku as he teams up with Glorio, Shin, and Pan🦂zy to explore the Demon Realm, gather the three Dragon Balls, and try to rescue Dende.

has always been known for how well it adapts the story of Dragon Ball Z, but the developers had a unique task on their hands here since Daima veers a lot closer to original Dragon Ball with its sense of hꩲumour and focus on adventure over big power-ups. Adventure Through the Demon Realm nails both elements with ease, though, as one of the best parts of the DLC is how consistently charming and character-driven it is.

It’s easy to forget with all the battles and big beams that Dragon Ball’s strength has always been its memorable cast of characters (including my favourite newcomer Glorio), but Kakarot continues to serve as a well-needed reminder of that. Compared to the action-focused💜 Super that everyone is always asking to see adapted, Daima is much more in line with what Kakarot and its love of Dragon Ball’s history are all about.

The Daima DLC serves as even more proof that CyberConnect2 would absolutely smash an OG Dragon Ba🤪ll game. Here’s hoping that’s ไon the agenda in the 𒀰future.

As I've alluded to, the only big downside to Demon Realm Part 1 is that it’s far too short at three hours for all of the story content. As accurately as it depicts Daima’s sto🦂ry, only telling up to Majin Kuu’s arrival means there’s tons of content missed, and we don’t even get to see much of Vegeta and Piccolo. Part 2 is going to be something special, but Part 1 feels like it ends just as it starts to get going.

Goku Steals The Show In Adventure Through The Demon Realm

Super Saiyan Goku in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's Daima DLC.

Outside of adapting Daima, Demon Realm Part 1 will mostly feel familiar to anyone who’s played Kakarot before, with a few key differences. T♉he first is in Goku (Mini) himself, who is one of the most unique characters to play as in the whole of the series, thanks to his use of the Power Pole during combos and OG Dragon Ball techniques like Rock, Paper, Scissors, Solar Flare, and the handheld Spirit Bomb.

Without a doubt, Daima’s Goku is my favourite part of the whole🐼 expansion, as his quick pace, unique combos, and eventual use of Super Saiyan 1 and 2 make him very refreshing after years of playing as adult Goku and similar Saiyans like Bardock and Vegeta. Combat is also entirely ground-based, adding another slight twist to a combat system I’ve otherwise put hundreds of hours into🅷.

Another unique element of the Daima DLC is that Glorio and Shin are constant companions for most fights. Shin is particularly u✤seful since he can he💎al you on the spot without any Medi-Bugs.

It’s not just combat that’s grounded in the Daima DLC, though. Exploring the Demon Realm is almost all done on foot (or through fast-travelling with Sky Seeds) due to the air being so heavy, which means no flying around and a lot of running to and fro. There are some unique things to discover, like Panzy’s lore drops and Floating Isla༒nds, but it’s all done more linearly this time around.

When I first shared m🍸y thoughts on the Demon Realm in my preview for the Daima DLC, I was pretty positive on it since I thought there would be more to see. Now 🍸that I’ve finished the DLC, I’m a little underwhelmed with it all. The Demon Realm is an interesting location, sure, and the grounded approach feels unique, but there’s just not that much more to it than sub-stories, fishing, and the usual crop of Kakarot activities. It’s the base game, but more linear.

The only sub-story that actually caught my interest in the final game is a ▨rematch against Tamagami Number Three. The rest are just what you expect to see from Kakarot.

In truth, my thoughts on Kakarot are a little hard to sum up, since my preview basically did it all for me, minus an incredible boss battle to end off with and an hour or so of mopping up side missions. On paper, what’s here is one of Kakarot’s best and most interesting expansions, but in practiജce, it can’t escape from the looming “Part 1” in its title. If you’re a DB diehard like me, you’re better off waiting for the full thing and not ﷽getting whiplash by the time Jaka Jaan plays.
