The first big game of 2020 is looking to be . Fans of Goku's saga are hopeful that this game will embrace the wild and wacky world of Dragon Ball in a way that the many fighting games couldn't. Since Kakarot comes with such high hopes and is an entry in a beloved series, it might be one of the few games worth pre-ordering. It just so happens that Bandai Namco is offering several different versions to c🅘hoose from.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an anime game, and like any anime game it comes with a variety of . While savvy gamers will easily figure out which packages offer things like exclusive figures or DLC, Bandai Namco did make things a little confusing by throwing in platform-exclusive versions. Pre-Order Bonuses

Before we get into the version exclusives, however, it's worth looking into pre-order bonuses. We know many gamers consider pre-orders the work of the devil, but Bandai Namco makes a decent case for a Kakarot pre-order. Those who do pre-order the game will get early access to a brand new character designed by DBZ creator Akira Toriyama. She's a new member of the Ginyu force, so she's sure to have an amusing backstory. The other pre-order bonuses are an exclusive sub-quest and cookingꦜ item.

The pre-order bonus package will be added on to any version of t☂he game you pre-order.

Collector's Edition

This is the big boy. For $199.95, you get the most physical items out of any edition of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Aside from a disc containing the full game, the Collector's E♏dition comes with a diorama figure, a hardcover artbook, and a steelbook. Figures are pretty standard for collector's editions, although it's interesting that they went with something depicting a scene rather than a detailed statue of Goku. The artbook seems the be the real winner here, as there's a good chance there will be some quality new Toriyama drawings inside. The steelbook seems nice, with a simple yet iconic design.

There are two negatives to the Collector's Edition. First is that it's console only. Since the PC versions are all-digital, only Xbox and PS4 players can get the cool collectibles. The other downside is that the Coꦍllector's Edition lacks the DLC season pass. That won't be a dealbreaker for some, but it's still an odd choice given that every other edition comes with the season pass.

Deluxe Edition

The Deluxe Edition is where things get a little messy, but let's first go over what it comes with. Deluxe Edition buyers get the full game in digital format as well as the season pass. This edition also includes a "Music Compilation Pack" that has 11 songs from the DBZ anime. Finally, it comes with a b💦onus co🐟oking item.

Here's the thing about the Deluxe Edition: it's technically available on all platforms. PC users can get a Steam code for it. Xbox and PlayStation players have to go through their respective online stores, as there's not a physical edition for Deluxe. PlayStation complicates it further by having its own "Digital PlayStation Deluxe Edition." It's essentially the same exact thing as the other two, only it comes with an exclusive DBZ PS4 theme.

Ultimate Edition

The final special edition of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is the Ultimate Edition. It has the same content as the Deluxe Edition with two additions. One is that the bonus cooking item is slightly better than that of the Deluxe Edition. The other inclusion is a travel method. We know that Goku will be able to use the Flying Nimbus and cars to get around the game's world. Ultimate Edition owners will also be able to surf the skies using Tao Pai Pai's pillar from Dragon Ball.

The Ultimate Edition is packaged in the same manner as the Deluxe Edition. That m🐷eans it's digital exclusive. It also means that PS4 owners will get a special theme.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot releases on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on January 17.
