Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is a game full of easter eggs from all over the canon. A series of collectibles call back to iconic moments from Goku's childhood adventures, Android 21 from FighterZ lurks about, and a secret boss battle features a Xenoverse cameo. Hardcore fans already know this, and probably won the fight long ago, but Mira and Towa appear in Kakarot to give the player a challenge. Those not-so-expertly versed in Dragon Ball lore 🌺might be wondering what they were even doing there. Let us explai🅷n.

Towa actually has a bit of a history in the extended Dragon Ball universe. She's from the Demon Realm and is the sister of Dabura, the demon king from the Buu Saga. She seeks power through various means, with her past attempts including expanding the Demon Realm to encompass the whole universe and manipulating the DBZ timeline.

Towa's most constant tool in this endeavor is Mira, a being that combines various alien DNA, Android parts, and Demon powers. Mira seeks to become the strongest being ever, a quest that has put him in conflict with Dragon Ball video game protagonists many times.

Mira and Towa got their start in Dragon Ball Online, then moved on to become the primary antagonists of the Xenoverse games. The concept of Xenoverse is that the player becomes a defender of the DBZ timeline, and that Mira and Towa travel through time to collect DNA samples to add to Mira's strength. The player reduces Mira to his core at the end of the first Xenoverse, but Mira returns at full power in the second game. Kakarot shows just how that happens.

In Kakarot, the player can fight buffed foes called Villainous Enemies. They have a red aura, much like Mira's. This is by design, as it turns out that Towa empowered these Villainous Enemies. Her goal in doing so was to challenge the Z Warriors and feed the resulting energy from the intense battles into Mira's core. The plan pays off, and if the player defeats all the Villainous Enemies Mira gains enough power to restore his body. He then decides to test his new form by fighting the Z Warriors. That's the secret boss battle in Kakarot.

When the player wins the fight, Towa remarks that Mira is not yet complete. They make their escape into time once more, presumably to kick off the events of Xenoverse 2. But that's a story for a different time, and perhaps a different game. Kakarot is implied to exist in its own timeline, separate from Xenoverse or even the core anime/manga. If the Dragon Ball franch🔯ise is embracing branchi꧂ng timelines, we might just see more of Mira and Towa in future projects.
