While Mages may not reach the offensive potential that their Sorcerer cousin does, Mages represent a much more versatile vocation. If you're struggling to choose from the more sཧpecialized options, then Mage offers a perfect opportunity to dabble in various forms of Magick and different styles of play.

What Are The Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Mage Vocation?

Strengths

A Mage's greatest strength is the versatility of their skillset, with options aplenty.

Their ability to use any elemental 𝔍damage type themselves (fire, lightning, ice, and holy) is an excepti🐽onal offensive feat.

Mages can also use Fire, Ice, or Lightning Affinity to imbue their allies' weapon🔴s with the corres𒀰ponding damage type.

The affinity spells grant the given damage type to the targeted ꦏally'ꦍs weapon for a short period.

Mages are equally gifted defensively, with access to amazing spells like High Palladium and Argent Succor, which can provide defense against attacks and🎐 heജal, respectively.

The ability to perform their spells at range is exceptional for Mages to in🐲flic💜t damage and help their friends while staying out of harm's way.

Weaknesses

Unfortunately, Mages are perhaps the most frail vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2✱, as they will struggle to endure many hits with their l🍌ow HP.

The charge time for their spells can become very limiting if you need to unleash a strong attack to finish a♉n enemy, but t🙈hey interrupt your cast by hitting you.

While a Weapon Skill like High Spellhold (which allows you to store a spell to cast instantly) was designed to help mitigate the above problem, Mages have too many good abilities to warrant that Skill's usage in o൩ne of the limited slots.

Mages excel in the late game, but their weak early-game capabilities leave them feeling sluggish to use when you fir🏅st begin your adventure.
