Ethan turning into a dragon, Dragon's dogma

Without a doubt, the most controversial aspect of Dragon's Dogma is Ethan's character transformation at the🐻 end of the story. Many felt his change of moralit💖y was instant and completely out of left field.

This criticism, however, seems to come from those who haven't been paying attention to the very obvious mental instability Ethan expresses in virtually every single episode. Episode 1, Wrath, is the introductory episode, and most fans are just simply anticipating the Dragon's attack on Cassardis, because of this it's only natural that other plotlines go ignored. During watching the episode with their horse-blinders, fans may not have noticed Ethan꧅'s family dynamic. Olivia, Ethan's wife is pregnant, while L💟ouis is his adopted son. Sadly the Dragon kills Ethan's entire family.

8 The Harsh Dictജatorship

While nowhere in the story was there any dialogue directly expressing the fact that the people of Grans✨ys live under a harsh dictatorship, this is periodically visible. The first instance was the treatment of Ethan and Louis by drunken guards, who seemed they were about to arrest, or outright kill the two, for simply questioning their drunkenness.

After Ethan had taken care of this monster. The villagers had nothing else to fear, the public used this opportunity to take back contr♉ol, using extreme violence. They burned down the mayor's manor, presumably killed all inside, and raided the food storages.

Soldiers that aren't the arisen, or pawns, stand no chance against monsters. Many viewers fail to even register this tragic and failing battle.

Screenshots from the Dragon's Dogma anime.

For those that bothered to look at the names of the episodes, they would notice that each one is named after a respective deadly sin. Each sin is demonstrated in each episode. Many just brush this off as a stylish structuring choice. However during the final battle with the dragon, the beast expresses to Ethan how humans are flawed in each respect and are all sinners, thus must be eradicated. Finally, the show's entire structure makes sense, yet many pay attention to the intense drago🌸n fight, and not the dialogue, missing the shows greatest and most importan🎃t metaphoric plotline.
