There have been multiple successful driving games over the years, but even some of the most popular ones can end up being left behind. This may be because they were too different or too niche, but gaming history is littered with driving franchises that don't exist anymore.

There have been attempts by fans to try and recreate these games by themselves, or to make spiritual successors. And whilst 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Gran Turismo and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Forza Horizon are excellent driv🐽ing games for players wanting more realism, modern day hardware would allow for some incredi🥃ble rebirths of these more arcaಌde-style games.

10 🅺 Split/Second

An explosion happens during a race in Split/Second

The entire premise of Split/Second is that you can cause sudden disasters to happen which can hinder your opponents, such as an explosion 🅰or a plane crashing. This is done by building up your "power play" meter via daring acts ⛄of driving, such as drifts or jumps, and then using it at the correct moment during a race.

There have been several racing games that♉ allow you to use the environment to your advantage when racing, but Split/Second does it in an entirely different (and incredibly fun) way.

9 𓂃 The Simpsons: Hit And Run ꦆ

Doing a jump in Bart's Ferrini Red

There have been multiple Simpsons games over the years, but Hit and Run is easily the most popular of them all. Effectively a kid friendly GTA, it managed to tell an🤡 intriguing story whilst offering great moment-to-moment gamepꦉlay across seven levels.

Of course, trying to secure the rights to a Simpsons game is going to be an expensive process. Also, it may be harder to convince people to buy a Simpsons game over a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Star Wars game, but as soon as people hear it's a new Hit and Run game, that will likely boost people's interests. Come on already, we need it!

8 LEGO 🐭Racers ꦿ

Preparing to race in Lego Racers 2

LEGO games nowadays tend tꦫo be focused on adapting various licensed properties. However, a long time agꦍo, LEGO was pretty experimental with its games, and the LEGO Racers games were such an example.

168澳洲♏幸运5开奖网:Both clearly take inspiration from Mario Kar🔜t but also use the strengths of LEGO to their advantage. For example, you can construct the car you'll be using for each game, and the sequel made it possible for your vehicle to be completely destroyed by the various weapons.

7 Stuntman

Stuntman and its sequel, Stuntman: Ignition, are PS2-era driving games with a cool premise - you play the role of a movie stuntman, and must navigate a level full of incredible (and often difficult) stunts in order to get the perfect clip for the film that's being produced.

What makes the Stuntman games fun is the variety of l🌠evels, vehicles, and of course, stunts. One scene will see you racing along the cliffs of Monaco, whilst another will require you to drive along the top of a moving train.

6 Twisted Metal 🔜 💯

Front view of Axel in Twisted Metal 2012

The 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Twisted Metal series has been dormant since the 2012 entry for the PS3, likely because Santa Monica Studios are hard at work with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:God of War. Sony tried to placate people's interests with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Destruction AllStars, but it lacked the su🐟bstance 🍒people wanted from a car combat game.

Therefore, it feels like high time for a new entry in the series, not least because modern graphics would make the carnage even more incredible to experience. Also, it's been proven that online multiplayer can work for the series.

5 Destru♓ction Derby

Preparing for a bowl arena event in Destruction Derby 2

This classic PS1 series has never seen an appearance outside its heyday. You could argue that it technically has a spiritual successor in games like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Wreckfest, but it's not quite the same as having the actual brand alive and kicking (or rather, alive and smashing). In fact, having both franchises around could give the genre a much-needed boost.

Furthermore, Destruction Derby would be excellent for online multiplayer (especially in regard to the big bowl events), and also 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a good entry point for newcomers to♉ driving games.

4 ♕ Crazy Taxi

Nearing a passenger's destination with 12 seconds to spare

Easily one of Sega's most famous arcade titles, Crazy Taxi holds a special place in the hearts of many people who've played it. From the fast-paced levels to the immediately recognizable opening of the Offspring's "All I Want" during the intro sequence, Crazy Taxi is a classic amongst the classics.

There have been several sequels over the years, although the most recent title was Crazy Taxi Tycoon in 2017, which was 🍌just a business management simulator and a far cry from the high-octa♔ne action the series is known for.

3 Driver

Driving in the San Francisco level of the original Driver game

Aside from a couple of mobile games, the Driver series has been pretty quiet since Driver: San Francisco came out in 2011. Chances are this is because Ubisoft are more focused on other franchises nowadays, but this doesn't mean this series deserves to be forgotten.

In fact, Driver: San Francisco arguably provided the inspiration for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Watch Dogs: Legion's system where you can switch between different agents, since John Tanner can "shift" between cars in the former game. Also, it's unknown where a new Driver game might go in terms of direction.

2 F-Zero

As it turns out, Captain Falcon doesn't just exist in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Smash Bros. He used to have his own racing series in F-Zero, but that hasn't seen much action since F-Zero GX came out on the GameCube, and there's been no indication that Nintendo are making another one.

This is a shame because we now live in an age of online multiplayer, and F-Zero would benefit greatly from this. Especially since Nintendo have already tested those waters with Mario Kart, whic🅷h has proven to be a huge success.

1 Burnout

Despite being one of the most successful racing franchises of all time, Burnout hasn't seen a lot of action in recent years. The most recent original game was Burnout Crash in 2011, but aside from releasing 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Burnout Paradise: Remastered in 2018, EA seems 🗹to have no interest in making🀅 a brand-new game.

It's a real shame because Burnout has brought so much to driving games, from the classic "Burnout style takedowns," to the mesmerizing slow motions replays every time you crash.
