Once you cross the Vermillius Gap in Dune: Awakening, there's a quest that'll activate regarding your taxes. However, there are some ad♐ditional caveats you should know before venturing off. Here's what you need to know about ta♌xation in Dune: Awakening.
How Taxes Work
Once you cross the Vermillius Gap and establish an advanced sub-fief outside of South Hagga Basin, you'll be expected to pay taxes on your sub-fief.
The exact number of Solari you need to pay varies depending on☂ the size of your sub-fief, as well as the re꧒sources you cultivate.
The larger land claim you have, and the more resources you cultivate, like spice, the higher your taxes will be.
Spice taxation rates, which are determined by the Landsraad, can have a big impact on how much Solari you enꩵd up paying in taxes, so keep an eye on this.
Keep in mind, if you're maintaining a basic sub-fief console in the South Hagga Basin, aka the game's tutorial area, you won't have to pay taxes on it. However, basic sub-fief consoles have a lot of 𝄹limitations.

How To Pay Your Taxes
Once you know how much you owe, you'll need to travel to a settlement to pay your taxes. There are 🅘two settlements where 🐼you can pay your taxes:
- Arrakeen
- Harko Village
Both of these settlements have Imperial Consulates, which house Imperial Representatives, to whom you can pay your taxes.
To access these settlements, you'll need to travel to them by Ornithopter. If you have your own Ornithopter, you can fly there yourself. However, early on in Dune: Awakening, having your own mಌeans of transport is rare.
So, nine times out of ten, you'll have to hire an Ornithopter pilot to take you to one of these settlements. Simply head to a tradepost like The Anvil or Grif🦹fin's Reach and speak to the Ornithopter pilot inside 🌱to travel to Arrakeen or Harko Village.
The trip to either of these settlements costs 2,500 Solari, so make sure you have enough to pay for the trip there and t𝓰o pay your taxes. The trip back to Hagga Basin is free.
Where To Find The Imperial Consulate

- Arrakeen - Top left-hand corner of your map, in the diagonal hall.
- Harko Village - Right-hand side of your map, in the diagonal hall.
Simply head to the main desk and speak to the Imperial Representative to pay your taxes.
What Happens If You Don't Pay Your Taxes
Paying taxes in Dune: Awakening may seem like a scary task, but it's actually relatively easy, and the game is more forgiving than its dialogue lets on.
Taxes are due roughly every two weeks, and there's also an extended past-due deadline ꦰby which you can pay your taxes.
Be sure to check in every once in a while with your sub-fief to make sure you're up to date on your taxes.
If you don't pay your taxes in the allotted time, you'll face the wrath of the Sardaukar, the Emperor's mercenary squad.
Plus, your base's shields will be deactivated, you'll lose everything inside, and the storms of Arrakis will sloဣwly chip ♛away at the sub-fief until it is no more.
Ultimately, unless you have dozens of sub-fiefs all over Arrakis, your taxes shouldn't be too expensive, but the consequences of not paying them can be deadly.
