Because they function as 'twin gods,' D&D lore does not have one without the other, and the entangled nature of their history has become a staple in a good many games. There are a few origin stories 𝔍for Bahamut and Tiamat.

According to Races of the Dragon, both were born to Io, the god of balance and dragonkind. While created to complement the other and, eventually, mate, this would not come to pass.

Though Io intended for the duo to have children that took on all of their positive traits, both children were instantly antagonistic towards the other. Tiamat resented Bahamut's righteousness, and Bahamut abhorred her cruelty.

Io refused to intervene, allowing his children to bicker. Their relationship festered into outright hatred, leading to the death of their elder sibling, Vorel. Io loved Vorel, and it was this love that led to Tiamat devising a plan to turn her father against her brother, murdering Vorel and framing Bahamut.

Vorel translates to 🐽"beautiful" in Drac▨onic.

Despite her precautions, Io saw through Tiamat's lies and was saddened, not only by the loss of his firstborn but by his daughter's betrayal.

As a result of her treachery, Tiamat was banished from Io's realm. She fell further into her hatred and created the first chromatic dragons. Bahamut, ever his sister's rival, made metallic dragons in response.

Elegy For The First World

According to the myths 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:of the dragonborn of Abeir, Bahamut and Tiamat were born from the corpse of Io. Others believe that the twins were simply the children of Io, while some present them as having come into being through the primordial chaos at the beginning of time, much like the fey.

Abeir wa🅘s introduced in🤡 2e, fading out of the prominent canon by the time 5e replaced 4e.

While their origins differ, all texts confirm their antagonism towards one another and agree that they created the metallic and chromatic dragons, including another dragon god, Saridor.

They even fought together w🅘hen the gods of the Outer Plane invaded the First World. Bahamut was the first to fall, forcing him to flee and wander the Material Plane. Tiamat, too, was defeated and imprisoned in the Nine Hells for opposing the gods.

The hatred between gods often breeds hatred between followers, and this was no exception. Bahamut and Tiamat's factions would find themselves embroiled in a bloody battle that would come to be known as the Dragonfall Wars.

Tiamat created draconic aberrations to aid her followers, sending them to murder those w🧜ho worshiped Bahamut. Meanwhile, the Platinum Dragon, Bahamut🌟, created warriors of his own.

Bahamut's creation would become known as Ux Bahamuti, or dragonborn of Bahamut, to aid hiꦏs 𝐆worshipers in their plight.

Neither side was able to defeat the other, leading to a deadlock that lasted hundreds of years.

During this time, the Untheric Empire was formed. The empire named both dragons as deities, granting them human worshipers and elevating both of their powers to the divine.

The Untheric Empire was one🅠 of the old Empires on Faerûn, created by formerly enslaved people after rebelling against their oppressors.

However, defying Tiamat amplified the more menacing of Tiamat's traits, making her worse than ever before. The other gods of the pantheon could not curb her, and chaos ran wild.

Bahamut once again sought to oppose the now-empowered deity. It wouldn't be until -1071 DR, or Dalereckoning, that this power struggle, (and the Dragonfall War♑) would reach its climax.

Losing Their Divinity

During a crucial battle that would later be known as the Battle of the Gods, the Utheric God-King Gilgeam was battling against the orc god Ilneval. Tiamat attempted to slay Gilgleam, bꦿut her brother (who was going by Marduk) intercepted her attack, sacrificing his divinity to ensure her demise.

In the ensuing battle, both siblings would perish, killing their Untheric aspects and robbing both♑ of their divine power.

As a result, Bahamut was reduced to a celestial paragon and wandered the material planes in an avatar, doing what he could to maintain order and good. Tiamat, whose power had been reduced to that of an archfiend, was given control over a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:layer by Asmodeus.

The duo would remain like that for several cen💖turies before they regained their🔴 divinity.

In the year 1346 DR, many citizens of the Unther Empire were dissatisfied with Gilgleam's rule, which had become tyrannical after the dragons' defeat, and some turned to the "Nemesis of the Gods" for help.

A group of cultists summoned an aspect of Tiamat from Avernus, enlisting her help in instilling rebellion against the church of Gilgeam. While Gilgeam would eventually slay this aspect of Tiamat as well, the divinity she had obtained was split between three powerful chromatic dragons.

One of these dragons, Tchazzar, devoured the other two to combine Tiamat's essence again. Tiamat was resurrected as a lesser deity, but how she slew her other forms created the image of the five-headed dragon she would be infamous for. Tiamat was finally able to slay Gilgeam and🅰 dissolve the Untheric pantheon.

Simultaneously, Bahamut also regained his divinity. After granting an artifact to a group of adventurers traversing through the Abyssಞ to destroy the Wand of Orcus, his benevolent acts renewed interes𝐆t in his divinity on Toril.

Many non-dragons began worshiping the platinum dragon, promoting him to a minor deity like his sister.

Following the return of their divinity, the siblings prepare to restart the Dragonfall War. Though the two have not officially restarted their war, tensions between them have never been higher, and it's only a matter of time before Law and Chaos clash again.
