Bards use art, whether that's poetry, music, or even just storytelling, to invoke the magic of the natural world and create arcane effects. To ensure optimization, we have selected a few species that function well with our tavern entertainers to help you kickstart your character.

Newer books, such as Monsters of the Multiverse, let yo🎃u choose🌼 where your ability score increases go, allowing more freedom when choosing a species.

10 Half-Elf

A good option if yoꦓu 💛want to be good at multiple things. Half-Elves get a +2 to their Charisma, and you still get a boost in two other ability scores instead of just another one, unlike most other species.

You are resistant to charm effects, can't be put to sleep with magic, and get two extra skill proficiencies, which can later be improved with Expertise.

9 Tiefling

Another great option for a Charisma boost, and it comes with fire resistance and some extra spells for you to annoy your enemies. You have many options for which spells you'll get; it only depends on what subrace you'll go for.

Or, you can ditch the extra spells for wings. They can be very useful for maneuverability, and you can put yourself at a safe distance while att🀅acking with spells or healing your friends. Just be careful ❀with archers.

8 Aasimar

If a hellish option didn't interest you, perhaps a heavenly one will. Aasimar also comes with a nice Charisma increase, though you can choose your ability score increases depending on which book you're using. You also get two resistances; radiant and necrotic, and extra healing in case you run out of spell slots

Finally, you get one more feature depending on which subrace you'll go for. You can scare enemies, cause radiant damage, or even temporarily fly. You can only get one for your character, though, so see which option fits you better.

7 Satyr

A good thing about Satyr is that they already have nice perks for those who want to use music, and Bards are a good fit. One more musical instrument for your collection, and you're already proficient in Persuasion and Performance, so you can choose other things from your class.

But the best parts are that you're not a Humanoid, but a Fey, which changes how some spells work on you, and you have magic resistance, which gives you an advantage on saving throws against spells. Essentially, using spells on you will be a lot harder.

6 Fairy

The fun thing about Fairies is that they mix some of the perks mentioned before. You get a few spells for free, such as Faerie Fire, which is very useful 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:for support roles, and you're also Fey rather than Humanoid, making you immune to certain effects.

And you still get wings like the Tiefling, giving you more movement. However, you're also a small creature, which allows you to get into places most of the party won't be able to, especially with Enlarge/Reduce, something you'll also get for being a Fairy.

5 Hobgoblin

In case you're interested in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:fitting a support role, Hobgoblin will give you some interesting extra features to use during combat. As Goblinoids do, you'll get Darkvision and resistance to charm effects, which is good in itself.

You can also occasionally use Help as a Bonus Action, and doing so gives them more perks, such as temporary hit points or an adജvantage on an attack, for example. You can also use the number of people near you as bonus points for an attack in case you miss it.

4 Kobold

Another good option if you intend to focus on the support area is the Kobold. You can give yourself and allies near you an advantage on their next attack, and that only costs you♛r Bonus Action. If you gave them Bardic Inspiration beforehand, these two things could make a nice combo together.

You c𝄹an also choose between three different features during character creation, from being resistant against the frightened effect, an extra skill proficiency, or even an extra𝄹 cantrip from the Sorcerer class that you can take for yourself, allowing you some extra combat options too.

3 Changeling 😼

This is a good option since Charisma will be a big part of your character. A Changeling is also a Fey when it comes to spell immunities. You canꦛ get two skill proficiencies between Deception, Insight, Intimidation, Perf൩ormance, or Persuasion, all good for your Bard.

And finally, the feature that makes Changeling unique, you get to shape-shift into other creatures, which will allow you to manipulate people even better, giving you a fun experience other species just can't match.

2 Yuan-Ti Pureblood 🌳 ♋

One more Charisma boost for you, and that is just the tip of the iceberg. You also get Darkvision just because, and a few spells for free. But that is still not the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:best part of the Yuan-Ti.

You are resistant to magic, have an advantage on saving throws, and are immune to poison rather than simply resistant to it. Being able to completely negate a certain damage type is too good to pass up, 🍰especially if your campaign involves fighting a lot of monsters.

1 Human

Perhaps the best fit for a Jack of all Trades class is the Jack of all Trades of species. Humans don't get a lot of particularly interesting stuff, but they're well-rounded options. Or, you can go with Variant Human, getting an extra skill proficiency and a feat right at level one, which is a game changer.

Similarly, you can get Custom Lineage from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. It gives you the same options, but it lets you swap the extra skill proficiency for Darkvision, which is always a fun thing to have.
